hey guys this was something i made about 6 mos. back, i was inspired by concept art, speed paintings and such. although most people use tablets to do stuff like this, i tried photoshop with different techniques and brushes to come up with a similar result on my laptop.
Ignore the title, i just thought of something that would fit the scene, the subject is mapping out the "new world" in front of him.
Personally i don't like the outcome, it was my first attempt at something like this, and I wasn't well equipped for the attempt either. so cnc let me know what you think because i'm thinking of trying something similar soon.

its actually a very nice attempt at a digipaint without the use of a tablet. The composition is rather nice but the values can be farther pushed. Color is rather monotonous but using the right color palette is very hard imo. I just hope you get a tablet soon you got some real talent :0

haha it's on my wish list, i know it's too monotonous.. i still have the psd file, im going to try and improve the colors a bit, im thinking of also removing the person, it's too LQ and nothing i try helps to sharpen it. and thank you for the compliment, you're too generous. :P is there anything i can do to improve it besides the values and color?

yea the thing about the figure is that its rather flat and one value compared to the detailed surface he's on. If you want to make the guy fit in more you have to give him more values and dimensions. You could also better define the shape of the building in the background aswell as define the cracks and rubble of the huge rock he's on.

You have the vision, now get the tablet.
Like Cold said, you can push the values further but it's fine like that. Especially for something done with brushes and a mouse. Good work

i'll try and alter the values a bit. do you guys think getting a bamboo stylus for the ipad2 would work with similar results?
