hmm... well i expect there would be, only if due to loss of material during the recycling process. when they used to melt down gold, the rafters above the old furnaces and melting pots would end up coated in a fine layer of gold due to evaporation! normaly not enough to be able to see, but over time it accumulates!
:D interesting trivia mate, very interesting... i wonder what other metals can be treated that way, i spose gold would be, maybe all pure metals can be but impure ones cannot (or ones effected to much by oxidisation).

Well, even if theres a loss that doesnt make my statement untrue. Lets say you start with Can 1, Make Can 2, which can go towards can 3 and so on so it keeps going...

just make smaller cans each time and you will still be able to recycle it
If you were able to contain the recycling process it could theoretcally go on indeffinetly.
