i have a Canon PowerShot SD400. My dad and bro had a race a couple days ago, and i took 4 small videos of them running by. My plan was to transfer those files over to image ready, taking the best slides, and make them into pics.
i did this b/c a 10 sec video has a couple hundred slides that i can pick from to make the best pic. i thought this would work, but it doesnt.
when i open up the dig. camera folder, it looks like this
it doesnt have any type next to it, and that what i think is the problem. i thought i would be able to click and drag the file into image ready or PS, but it wont let me. is there any way i can make these files have a 'type' like jpeg or whatnot. thanks

They are movie files. You cant open them with an image program. Try takin the video into Windows movie maker, and taking snapshots of the video from there.
i also want to know why nothing is letting me even opening these files up

in order to import to imageready the movie has to be a .mov file. i'm have no idea what file format your movies are in right now, but you could check by right clicking the file and selecting properties. and if you do eventually get it to work, the quality will likely be very poor. single frames of movies have far less quality than a jpeg for example, though most times you don't notice that because they are moving so fast.

You must convert into a MOV file. Or, just into an mpg or wmv and do what i said before in windows movie maker.
