I don't understand this step. How do I drag the layer to the left/to the right so I can't see it?

I wanted to try out this but I couldn't manage with the layers. Can anyone show me a picture about the structure of the layers? (I mean which layer is above or how many layers are...)
And I need a little help with this: "switch the blending mode to lighten".
I have Hungarian Photoshop so could anyone tell me where can I find this "lighten"?
