No no no, you are completely right there, it was not the Y axis i was debating, that is mirror of the norm, but the x axis is the same on flash and normal. That's why it struck me as odd when you said normally X+ goes left.

I think i'll make a new one soon.
In like 2 Months or something.
I know this thread is already dead but:
Can anyone make a tutorial for 'n00bs' because that tells people what to do but doesn't really explain what we are doing because if i went to do that on my own i would be screwed because i wouldn't know what to do
Or any links people know?
cheers
I'm back!Quote:

Well, you cou'd read the tutorials and guides that comes with your flash software.
It is really easy to get working with flash if you read about the basics.
Cheers, 1337Elite. ;)
hm i'm still figuring that out in my brain
but it works!..... :P thank's so much....somehow i do understand your explanations better then on other forums. i'm glad you posted things here and explained them. :D
Here is the old cartesian plot graph. (for anyone still wondering)
Note the y axis:

Now here is the new flash version of the cartesian plot graph:

To go just a bit further in-depth, this is actually what the Cartesian coordinate system looks like in flashon the root timeline. It will always start in the upper left hand corner on the root timeline. Note that any object defined by the Cartesian coordinate system uses points whether it be a single point or a box with 4 separate coordinates for each side of the box. The top upper left hand corner in flash has the coordinates (0,0).

This is actually what the Cartesian coordinate system looks like in a movie clip in flash. For example lets say that the orange ball is in a movie clip called ball. The center of the orange ball would be at (0,0) in the movie clip if the ball graphic was center inside of the clip (demonstrated below). The exact center of this ball would be at (0,0). We could go on to define the balls height and width by measuring the distance the ball covers along the y and x axis.

Hope that helped :_)
