No. If they want rights, they have to earn the rights themselves. If we simply gave rights to animals, it would be considered charity... and we all know how I feel about that.

well, pets shouldn't have rights (ex: imagine a voting pet :P )
however, i believe intelligent animals should be treated right
cats and dogs require care, food, and shelter, plus a loving family

i also think the way people treat elephants are horrible
i read an article in national geographic mag about how people "tamed" elephants by torcuring them: locking them in a cage, deprived of food and water, and being whipped
the elephants were forced to carry lumber, and were treated as slaves
one pregant elephant had a miscarrage because she still was made to do tiring work, and was punished if she did anything wrong

i voted yes, because animals should be treated better, but i dont think they should have rights of humans
