alright, some of this may have already been said, but im gonna say it again, and please heed my advice, it will benifit you, i promise.
the sig, is not good as it is now, sorry, i know thats mean, and im not trying to flame it or to be a dick. but it really isnt. a lot of that has to do with the fact that much of it is a dead style. the border, dead. and not in a classic way either. pop outs, about to be dead, but i do like the concept you put behind this pop out. that actually, is ok. and COULD work, if done better.
first of all, the color is to monotonous and needs work. ctrl+u is NOT a good thing. ctrl+B is the way to go over that, along with many layers, color balances, layer masks, changed blend modes, experiments in opacity. the blue needs more shades and colors of blue. and maybe a tad of another color. but not toooo much.
the contrast is half good. consistency consistency consistency. i may have spelled all three of those wrong, but do you know something. it looks ok. . . because it is consistant. where im goin with that is the lighting and contrast is not consistant throughout, the sig before the pop out is bright and vivid, and then it becomes very dull and monotone when the object begins to protrude. the center should be dark, where it drops off into the gun part. that should be a lot darker, and not blueish. and there are hardly any highlights on there. take the original layer(before you did any coloring), duplicate it, desat it, and then put a layer above with a nice blueish color to match, and then ctrl select the fun layer to select it, and layer mask the blue color. then apply a blend mode of 'color' or one of those to it. and you shuold have something with a little more pop in that area.
and i may add more later, im goin to bed now.
hopefully you took the time to read this, and too heed my advice for future creations.
thats what the fuck im talkin about! thank you masokist!
that render is shit, i feel like thats causing a lot of the problems in this sig. the original was so dark that detail was hard to see, so the colour issues are stemming from that. i did choose a bad colour for this sig, but if the render were better i think it wouldnt have been so horrible.
i really feel i need to clarify something though. this sig does not by any means reflect my best work, im not new. this was just an experiment with a broken border idea i thought of. however since the idea did get some positive feedback im probably gonna redo the sig with some of your suggestions.
dont get me wrong, i take none of what was said negatively, because, well it wasnt negative.
i appreciate all the feedback and look forward tom ore.
Its not so bad, maybe remove the broken border and make the sig a little bit bigger. or change the color and make the render a bit more visible.
good job man.
tabloid, i see what you mean with the dark render, that could really hurt the overall piece. and its good to experiment. keep messing around with this, and it will look great, i am sure.
but find a good render =P

ok this is the remake. colour change, text change, removed border.
i find without the border the sig is pointless, now its just another popout...
what do you think of the colour/text?
i saw that render in gamerenders.... i did not like it. Niether do i like the sig. The render looks low quality, The break away peicee look a little wierd, and the 1 color is not attractive.
the new one looks MUCH better. the colors are better, as are the highlights. maybe try and soften the popout a little, make the edges a little less jagged and pixelated. maybe brush around with a 3 or 4 px eraser.
it looks better without to border it had, maybe add some lines and 'cracks' around the points where it pops out. give it just that much more depth, and along the lines of what you were trying for.
i like what you did with the gun popping out, the colors/highlights look amazingly better than the first. actually decently realisitic kinda. i know that sounds mean, but its kinda a compliment considering the render you used. would you post the original? i kinda wanna see it.
other than those things its looking immensly better, the text could use a little work, but its alright. i suck with text, so i cant really say much.
also, the highlights on the render its self, kinda the ones in the background, look much much better. good work with those. but one thing, the arm in the back, gets cut off WAY too much. looks like a lot of that was erased, rather than blended, maybe work on that a little. also, add some brushing over your bg, the gradient thing doesnt work that well. brush around, and mess around with different effects and what not.
keep messin with it. and it will get there. that is if you are goin to continue to. or just think about these the next time you do something like this. =P
