And That still doesn't make it better, NFL is over - commercialised, Rugby .. is under...

If not you should, you would see it does take a lot more skill than you think and it is a good game.
This is like an apples and oranges debate. These are two very different games. :P
P.S. For the sake of hypocrisy: I like Rugby, but not as much as FOOTBALL (soccer)

I enjoy football more, more tactical etc, however rugby is fun too, its probably because when i get to watch football i do, i can watch rugby alot, heck i go down to the local club alot (they PWN :| though, if they keep doing as well as they do and get moved up to 1st dvision, (under he Zurich premier) then they wont have enough money :()
And about the pads thing, some rugby players wear pads too, just not mega huge ones..
