it helps if you just say what you do and don't like about a piece. you don't even have to get overly technical if you're an experienced graphic artist.
Though i have to say this has only just come to my attention, there's giving advice about stuff and not being an expert, and i know this has been brought up many times before, i hate it when people use words which don't mean what it is they're intending them to be.. i mean sure people may not know lingo that is used by digital artists, but those words arn't specific to digital art unless actually spawned from the creation of digital art. Saying stuff like rendered as a pose to "cut around a picture" or "simple font" in place of "font that doesn't fit well with this type of style" this just shows ignorance and doesn't bode well in progression as an artist.
Helping people with techniques and methods is also alot more useful then helping them with placement in their own works. :)
