Members will always come and go, that's just the way it is. Nobody is forced to make CX their onlly graffix site. Even staff members visit other graffix forums. So you could try to psyhcoanalyze this any way you want , but like I said before it's easier to make the rule across the board so there isn't any confussion.

Okay everybody take a deep breath and relax. From the looks of it Equals initial post, it was a general statement applying to the newer members who might not be aware of the rules. So there really wasn't one particular person to pm about it.

Firsty, @Death of a Clown, we aren't afraid of advertising if you thought so.
Look at it this way:
You throw a house party, then a guy walks in and the first thing he has to say is "come to my party" . So you say we should allow advertising in signatures.. So that's like not letting you shout come to my site, but letting you wear a note on your forehead that says "come to this address", it's no difference.
You want to advertise? We have nothing against that, but don't do it here. You don't like it? Well you have 2 choices: accept it or leave.
The purpose of a place like this is to keep everyone who likes this place here. Most of the typical art forums don't get that so they allow advertising (stupidly in my opinion) and that's the reason most of those sites don't make it.
There are plenty of top-sites that their purpose is to let you advertise all you want.
That's all I have to say, for now.
I understand where you guys are coming from about advertising, but for having your forum name in your signature that carnt be helped really, u not gonna go to every forum changing your pixel text which say gfx reborn fro example are you, a lot of forums usually allow members to have like userbar or a certain size linkin to the forums, i'm a member at a lot of forums and have my own too, but rules are rules guys, if its no advertsing its no advertising..

The thing is, if people like this place then they'll stick around. A url in a signature isn't going to persuade somebody otherwise. I think that advertising in a signature is more like a bumper sticker. How weak of a mind must someone have to be convinced of something by simply seeing it on a bumper sticker?
I'm currently a member on 4 forums right now and clearly I'm active here. People aren't restricted to one forum at a time, so the party analogy can't apply. As you can see, you have over 3000 members. Those that aren't active obviously arent that way because of advertising. If your concern is people leaving, then advertising shouldn't be the problem. Bottom line, if you focus on keeping this place nice and continually improving it, then people will like it and they will stay. Focusing on keeping them naive to other forums (though I doubt advertising in signatures is people's primary way to find other forums) isn't the way to go.
Thats just my 2 cents. Just thought I'd throw a few points out there ;)
