I started reading books, but i would say i actually learnt all the stuff from these online tuts coz i really dont like reading books -_-||| LOL! same with flash, dreamweaver and paint shop pro. Didnt learn from scratch, i preferred to try the nice nice designs.
Just find tutorials that have all the steps on them and are clear to understand thats the easiest and coolest way to learn....

check pixel2life.com and just read through some basic tutorials and they will help you get to know tools. welcome to the forums by the way!
hmm, i taught myself the basics and then followed tutorials to learn more advanced stuff. if i got stuck on how to do something then i checked the help.
But then I've been on puters since before most of you were twinkles in your mother's eye, so I have an advantage.
If your still looking for help, I found some good sites the other day that takes you through the basics, I can post the url when i get home from work tonight, say in approx. 8 or so hours.
when i started i taught myself from trial and error, then i found out about this great thing called "tutorials" and i just looked at like say 15 tutorials a day and in no time i knew my way around PS.
