well here's my *formal* review:
Hostel was a very engrossing (ignore the pun) film, which was, despite the obvious gore, most successfully accomplished by its sound. The parts the really got me were not the incredibly gory parts, they were the parts in which the actors did such a tremendous job of casting their "fear" onto the audience. I'll admit there were a few times were i was caught wincing and hiding my face from the movie, simply because the plot is so possible, and felt so real. Unlike most horror movies, Hostel did not "hide the punch line", meaning it did not cut away when the most brutal acts were committed. There was blood, vomit, puss, everything that made every viewer cringe.
So you might be saying to yourself: "why the hell would anyone want to see it?"
well i know for a lot of people it was just a social thing, to prove their are "badass" enough to watch it. For me, i was actually interested in the plot. The plot is basically this: There is an underground business in which for a price, you can do anything to anyone you want. It is sadistic, yes, but it is original, and suspenseful, which is what i look for in a horror movie. This is entertainment after all.
Disclaimer:
I do not recommend this to anyone who is squemish (obviously). there is a LOT of blood, there is footage of limbs being cut off, not just showing the end offect. The only thing that i found wrong with the movie was the quick ending. I enjoyed the ending quite a bit, but it would have been a little better had it been longer. I don't want to spoil it for you, so i'll just leave it at that
Scorecard:

Thoughts after all is done
I would not buy this movie, just because I cannot picture myself sitting at home watching this in my spare time. It's like the "Passion of the Christ". It just feels different. It is a movie that was good to see though, and I will definitely watch it again.
