I use 3ds max (Thought for some reason its being weird for me), try searching for a chair tut its a very nice tut for beginners, there are a few glass tuts out there which is pretty much what everyone begins on, and you can also go to www.3dbuzz.com (If it works, it was being weird yesterday).
