Sorry Jimit87, but i have to disagree. Without the proper analysis, you have no idea if your recommendation will work.
Hanging of 3d can be caused by either hardware or software. If software it could be because of a driver.
So reformating if it is a hardware issue, will not make the problem disapear. Reformating if it is a driver issue will also not make it disappear as you would be installing the same drivers as being used.
I do recommend that you check your memory first, check your drivers, check direct x before taking the drastic course of a full reinstall.

reformatting should be your FINAL option. it's not something you do just cuz your frustrated. you need to know exactly what's wrong with the computer before you go that far. if you can post the error message, i could help you out some more. i had this same problem called "nv4_disp error". it turns out my vid card was bad even tho my pc was only a month old. i called dell and they sent a guy out, it works fine now. get that error message up if you can.

Im pretty sure its called a RAM overdrive. I have it sometimes too. I think that its beacuse your computers doing so much other stuff, then it just gets loaded with a program/game, that it just craps out
Ide try closing everything befor it. AIM, MSN, PS, etc.
