My only comment, if not already stated, is that keep perspective in mind. If you actually were viewing this then you would notice that it would appear to get smaller as it goes up, maybe a slight adjustment with the modification of having the road thin as it goes up may make it more (ironically enough) realistic.

I kind of thought that a drastic change like that at this point may be slightly difficult to do, but get a draft and see what you think on it, and if you feel it's improved then post er up.
