Tried that, makes the left side seem to open and the right side cluttered.

Try taking a cloud brush or grunge brush in white, to those purple edges.
They are awesome.
The BG is a bit busy i think. Try to minimalize it by deleted unneeeded layers and sifting through what looks good and what looks bad.
Good border, and the text looks better than before but is still a bit big.
Good job aside form that.
