an easy way to use C4D's is to put it on a new layer, and put that layer on lighten or screen, and then erase parts of it
if it looks too bright, then you can lower the opacity =]

the blending between the render I would work on.. try a soft brush around 100px (eraser) at 30% opacity.. u can get really smooth transitions like that.. just don't get carried away
