the c4d would prolly look a little better if you turned it a little anti-clockwise and lower it a little so it would flow a little more the the direction of your render.
its indeed a good idea to search arround deviantart for tuts and resources, and theres also a bunch of great tuts on the void itself in the tutorial section.
