Soap, The English language is constantly evolving. The word Gigabyte never existed 20 years ago, and a Terabyte never existed 10 years ago. Rubik's Cube is a creation in the 1950s or something and before then the particular item never existed.

What I am saying is The English Language Changes... It so happens that the word "Render" has now obtained a new meaning and it's so happens that it's meaning is in similar area to an original meaning.

You are not gonna change the world, you are not gonna convince sites like Planet Renders or Premium Renders to change their names. You are not gonna convince millions of people to stop calling it render when calling a cut out photo a render is second nature. So why not stop having a go at people for silly little things and actually help them in their design and the creation of their artwork rather then demonstrating how you apparently know everything and everyone knows nothing.

(Also, for the record... Removing an image from a photo is actually called Deep-Etching, not a cut out photo.)

A cut out photograph is by no means a render. It is not rendered by hand or by 3D program so this is not lingo, it is just mistaken.

c4d is also mistaken since .c4d is no place in any other 3d application. If you said to someone who came here and only used 3dsMax '
hey that's a nice c4d' their response would be 'Err, I did it in 3dsMax'.

Do you say to someone who has a particularly magnificent broom: 'hey, nice sweep!'?
They'd probably think you were complimenting them on the expert execution of their sweeping abilities.

've never in my whole working career heard a cut-out photo called a render or a render called a c4d.
So, this is not evolution of language it's cultism of language, since this is the only place that uses such terms.
And, that being the case, would have anyone from a more professional background either scratching their head in confusion or shaking it in dismay.

this is not the only place that uses it i go to atleast 10 other forums and they all use this term why are you so close minded on this subject fuck your so called rules 99.9% of the ppl i have met that do graphics work call a "cut out pic" and RENDER and a 3d abstract image a c4d or abstract RENDER also if someone made it in 3dsmax i dont think they really would care if someone said nice c4d they still said it was nice just cause they cant determine if it was made from 3dsmax or c4d dont make it any less nice just stop cause you are fighting a losing battle here on this dumb ass shit since your the only one that believes what you believe that anyone at the void knows if you dont like it leave all you do is bitch and moan about rules and terms most of the world uses to call things im done with this stupid ass shit from you its point less since your a hardheaded asshole who doesnt know how to let shit go

Then those people are also wrong. They're not my rules, btw. They're just how things have been said since the dawn of cut out photos and 3D renderings.
Most of these forums you speak of, I suspect, are inhabited by the same ill-informed children as this one appears to have a majority of. My counter question is why is it so difficult for you not to use correct terminology?

It's been proven that render is given an alternative meaning for certain people. Designers in general assume that when you say render, you mean something generated by a computer, usually 3d. To an artist who primarily does signatures and tags and whatnot, render can mean the act of cutting out something from a stock or photo. This term is "coined" because a large part of signatures and tags generally have some sort of stock or cutout. It's not mandatory, but it's common practice. This is where the term came from.

Words can have a million meanings. It only makes sense to ridicule someone who doesn't understand the difference. Assuming someone is wrong because they use it a different way than you do is a bad idea. There are many words that have different meanings to different people. The word airbrush might mean a technique of using air to apply paint to a canvas, while to someone else it's a reference to a tool in photoshop.

The design "field" is always changing. You can stick to what you know and be just fine. But don't expect other people to do the same thing. I don't always agree with the way "render" is used, but it's my understanding that it's pointless to pursue change. It's just easier to say render than it is to say cut out or extract or crop or whatever word you could use to describe the act of cutting something out of a picture.

I think it's safe to say the definition of the word "render" is subjective. I don't think being incorrect has anything to do with it.

Ok... This is getting stupid. This is not the only forum that calls cut images renders. Every graphics forum I have been to calls it a render. So how would I know what "professionally" correct.

This is turning into an argument and we have lost track of the topic, Buu's art. From now on people either comment on the artwork or post will be deleted. Any more trolling and it will be dealt with in a "professional" matter, also known as holidays away from the forum.
