How can you judge a planet? Tell me. That's whatgot me to say that. There is no "realistic" planet. A planet could be a box for all we know in some areas.
I really like this one. I specially like the details on the planets, and the effort.
The two biggest planets looks really cool, I guess it's because they show the most "effort", as said :P I do like the colors, that makes the picture look both realistic And fantasy-like, which is cool. You've dojne a pretty damn good job on this one I must say, and thanks for giving me inspiration, again, if that's ok with you there is =P what's great about this picture is that the colors and the position of everything is good, the colors isn't too bright, they are more dull, and the only thing I don't like as much as the rest is the center part, with all the big stars, or comet things, and the planet in the middle doesn't look as well-done as the other ones. Still, I do think that the picture wouldn't look as good without them =D If you understand. Great piece, keep it up
hmmm I don't think the surface of the planets are that good IMHO. As to the comment about how should a planet look like? well we are conditioned on what we perceive a planet to look like both by popular sci fi and actual pics of the planets in our own solar system.
The surfaces look 'painted', while the rest of the pic is going for realism. If we wish to be critical then we could say that the two styles are not consistant. Also that in reality such a planetary system wouldn't exist so close to a glaxay or that the large planet would survive so close to a giant planet without being ripped apart. In addition to this, there are several very bright starts which implies close proximity, and yet we appear to be very close to another galaxy.
Sorry guys, but the realism just isn't there. Personaly I didn't plan to critic these issues, but someone else did and then everyone else ripped into him for doing so.
I will stand by what I originaly said, that the rings are about the best thing I like in the pic. from the camera pos, I would say that the bluring is very nicely done, execept the the shadow/lighting is incorrect.
a lot of what i want to say has been said so i'm just going to say a couple things. Most of the distant planets don't look real at all, and the main reason for this is that they have an outerglow/innerglow. Take most of hte outer/inner glows off, it only works with the close planet. Some of hte planets are nice but it is true they don't have much realism. Also part of the ring should be hidden because it doesn't have sun on it.
I'm loving it alot man..943.34.3.6.45.674.54.67.54.643.52/10 :)
Very very very nice!! I would never be able to ever do anything like this. I am definitely loving this one!
Wow, I have never ever seen something get as much critisicm as this one, even though I think this piece is better than something I've ever seen from some of you guys...
Illegal: I can't take of any inner glow since I don't use inner glow. If you read the step about shadows and light in my tutorial, you will understand what I mean. And the thing you said about the lighting on the ring is incorrect, I thought of that, of course, and the shadow should start just after the lower edge.
But now, seriously. Graphic designers, illustrator, all kinds of artists has one thing in common. They never CRUSH something with critisicm without giving ANY comments on the good things on the pic. It's a golden rule, and can actually be found on alot forums. I mean, I don't believe you when you say that NOTHING is good with this pic. I guess many of you couldn't do something like this. I know the pic isn't perfect, but the only thing I don't think looks perfect is the planet in the upper left. But as I said, I coudn't bother to do more on it. It took me 3 days to finish, and I think this is my best piece, and it IS alot better than anything I've seen from you Deep Blue, so if you don't mind, prepare to recieve the same level of critisicm (that means no commenting on good stuff) on your work from this point. Sorry for being rude, I'm just getting a bit pissed since I cannot believe that you totally dislike this. It's too detailed and I put too much work in it for me to believe that. If you want to challenge me and make a space scene that's better than this, go ahead. I would love to see it. Yes, I am pissed if some of you didn't notice.
man dont get mad he was just showin u what he thought could be improved..some people only say..o thats great..or you did a good job...but does that really help you? i know you cant really go back in change it man but people were just tryin to help that big planet on the bottom left is near perfect in perspection it just could be better..but as alot said who can really tell what real planets look like... after your post i woulda changed near everythin i said because you said u werent going for real, i just tried to help you if u were going for real...soz if we offended you...but most of us we justtrying to help...
Yes, you are trying to help, I appreciate that, but telling me that you totally dislike the pic isn't really helping. It just makes me feel bad at what I'm doing, which I don't think I am. I mean, no positive stuff at ALL? Come on, that's just ridiculous. Deep Blue really doesn't know how to critisize properly, he forgot that this pic isn't just some thing made in paint. No one of you have commented on that I put really much work into it, which I'm kinda proud of, either.
