yes, your name has to be on it. if not you will be dq'd.
sometimes when it looks bad you can shorten it. I for instance often shorten my name to XL. That is allowed!! texting is a part of sotw and yes if your text looks bad you will get less votes... on the other hand if it fits nice and adds to your sig you will earn votes, so.... work on it and read some text tuts to help you out. they are here on the void. :)
