Fruity Loops is rather easy to find with P2P programs. It's kind of the new standard for sound rendering, similar to how Photoshop is the standard for digital art.
Actually, Cubase SX3 is considered the standard. Fruityloops is more of an introductory thing. However, it is more popular than Cubase because most (like me) are sound production noobs.
FL is really good. I currently have FL v4.1 producer edition, but Im gonna get the 5.0 XXL as soon as possible.
I wanna get a prog like this. Gonna try out FL and reason. The idea of making some music is appealing to me.
If you wanna try out music production, whatever you do, don't use Fruity Loops. I know they say it's pretty good and all that, but it isn't as good as Cubase, and it uses a system, or whatever you should call it, that is different to other sequence programs. Cubase uses a system that most sequence programs uses, and is bigger and more powerful, which makes it.. better.

Well, Cubase, Pro Tools, Sonar and Logic are more advanced than FL.
I use Cubase SX 2.02. I haven't bothered to get the latest version, since my version is one of the latest, and not too much have been changed.
Do like the pros and Rabieshund (who nearly got signed at a record label!): use Cubase! xP
I've used fruityloops, and still do. If you want a really awesome production application look at Reason. I love that app.
Reason is quite limited though. It doesn't support VST-plugins, so you have to stick to all the synths that comes with the program. I don't say it's bad or anything like that, I've heard good stuff made with reason, but I would go crazy if I couldn't use the best VST's like Albino 2. The layout in Reason is really kool though, I like that they even made so that the wires move when moving the mouse pointer over them, hehe. :)
You would know more about it than me. I just play around with my guitar and record little things. I'm in love with the wiring system though, it's so cool.
