You nailed the depth, but there are things that are off about this.
The yellow splatter, and giant glowing red in the BG don't fit at all IMO. The left splatter looks like it's just floating, and the fact that it's yellow and doesn't match anything is what I think makes it irrelevant to the tag.
I don't have a problem with the lighting, it's cool, sets the atmos. mood. maybe remove the line of light coming off his head, but other than that...its cool.

I'm not feeling the yellow paint splatter.
Imo, the background should be darker.
