Oh wise one, please show me one instance which I've posted CC in a negative way. Pretty much -every single time- I make a post, I start out with the things I like about the signature. This gives people a sense of something that is particularly good, and to do again, and then I give CC on the parts I dislike. In this instance, I was giving a pointer based on the change he made and didn't even discuss the signature.Quote:
I'm starting to think about what is wrong with you people.
You don't have to act like a asshole just to give CnC and hope this would act like a motivator the original poster/creator of the piece to improve.
You should really look up something called "Constructive criticism", it would do you really good.
People don't post their work here to get smartass comments such as "it's bad", wich you guys are not far from.
In this thread you could learn a think or two from Distelo & Intrepidmisfortune. In general on this forum a great example of how to give good constructive criticism is Slave.
And never, have I fucking ever, just posted "it's bad" without example. That's absolute bullshit, and I'm no where near it. I've defended other people's signatures AGAINST people simply saying "it's bad".
Try it? It's how all of my posts look. Thanks.Quote:
A compliment is always nice otherwise it shows the work in a completely bad light, as if there are no good parts to it. Its easy to compliment someones work and still be critical about it, allowing them to make the improvements without feeling dishearted. you should try it some time.
Woah this has turned in to quite the number-2 storm. My point was just that a bit of nice stuff in a post can really go a long way and it certainly doesn't make someone feel complacent with no means of improving. Starting a post with 'Hey thats really nice, but I would improve on....' is a great way to make someone feel good about their work that they probably just spent a fair amount of time on and still giving them the critique to focus on.
@h3rald, haha, na I'm not suggesting styles should be changed and ofcourse people have their favourites, although I do think that if a tag isn't in the general style that you like and if your going to say its bad just for that then its probably not worth commenting at all, just like I mentioned above though - I meant that compliments are always great to receive no matter how good or bad the piece may be.
I agree, and I very rarely, if ever, see posts that don't start with something positive. You're preaching to the choir, this forum seems incredibly good for real, good hearted CC.
That's why it's incredibly annoying when people try and go all white knight and bitch other people out for giving a decent amount of CC that isn't shitting rainbows and butterflies all over the forum.
Am I going to tell you I love you and that we're BFFs and should meet up for coffee to talk about all the cool things we have in common, and find every single little last pixel of goodness to point out in a tag before I give one ounce of constructive crit on something that could be better? Fuck no. I'm going to say it's good, say that I like _____, and then talk about what could be better, because 1) that's what you should -want- to hear, and 2) that's how artists get better. I'm here to get better/help others get better, not to babysit.
Since I've been flying off the topic, I'll give my CC of the sig to not just be spamming this thread with uselessness.
The original is the best so far, I like the left side because it's where the light should be coming from, and I like the shape tool (pen tool? I dunno') work, it goes well with the flow and fits surprisingly well. If you haven't saved the PSD it'll be hard to touch it up, because as you can see in the 2 new ones you posted, the "darkness" you added looks.. fake, somehow. The bright lights, by his hand and on his right shoulder shouldn't get any darker, just the background should. That'll help to add more depth. You could try some other stuff too. Like throwing some of those shapes from the background infront of him, and blurring them, that could add depth. Or bluring more parts of the background. All in all it's a decent sig, but it needs some depth for sure.
Okay guys, that's enough. Stop spamming this thread with your opinions on how cnc should work.
cnc the art, not other people's comments.
I deleted it, along with 6 other posts in this thread before yours because they were all spam. Furthermore if an Administrator deletes a post(s) it's for a good reason. I've been watching this thread since it started, hoping it would resolve itself, but then people like you have to come in and spam it with irrelevant posts just to hear themselves talk. I left some of the comments in tact because they had valid points even if off topic, but now I'm asking it to stop, respect that.
If you post anymore in this thread Anno, you'll receive a suspension from the entire forum. I have no more patience for your nonsense.
