We dont need to help other countries at all [AFRICA AHEM]. They need to reform their government before we can do anything. Most, if not all donations end up in the hands of currupt politicians and war lords. They also need to change their attitude from begging to self-improvement.

What if it was you own mother? If everybody shared your opinion, she would die without any help. You would probably be pretty pissed. Think it over one more time. It could aswell be YOU who didn't get any help because people like you didn't think it was nessecary. How would you feel? Come on, how can you be that frigid? :blink:

RedBlaze, I have lost all respect of you. You could atleast be like Taco, he gave a rational example of what could happen - which there is a good chance the money will not go to the people who need it.

So with that being said, I did sign it. And I heard that the G8 summit doubled their donations to Africa that what they have given in the past.

If my mother, assuming I had an emotional attachment to her (I&#39;m talking theoretical, because I hate my mother), or I were among of these people, then I would whole-hearted believe that it was our fault for not being able to survive.
I live by this code; if I cannot do something I don&#39;t blame anybody but myself, even if somebody is trying to prevent me from doing it... I blame myself because I was not being able to overcome them.

People have varing views on topics and theres no need for peolpe to get upset about it. There are some points I agree on with RedXBlaze, that all they do is leech off other countries - and I stated that above. In some aspects, it is the peoples fault. Its the peoples fault they have 10 children (average 5-8 children, US average 2). Its the peoples fault they have unprotected sex. Although most things out of the peoples hands. Most things are on the government - and all the governments down there are total crap.

Now, on the AIDs topic. I&#39;m a strong believer in survival of the fit. If you cannot survive on your own, then thats that. I think of AIDs as a population control. Its a horrible thing, and I do beleive it should be cured but I dont think we should be sending medicine to help aid these people. Its a terminal disease with no cure, why spend millions on trying to keep people alive when they&#39;re going to die anyways? If anything, they should pay for themselves - and if they cant so be&#39;s it.

Now, because I believe AIDs is population control - I also believe poverity is another way to control population. In the end, thats going to be the ultimate control. We cannot keep up this rate of growth or everyone will be living at the same level as North Africa in 40 years*.

Bottom line: The government needs reform before we should donate another cent to them.

Ryan, you&#39;d be happy to know that the fertility rate is declining steadily. The universe always managed to balance itself out, don&#39;t worry about it.

I feel that every nation in the G8 has a responsibiltiy to promote the economy of third world nations. After all these are the countries that do all the manual labor for the products which those 8 value so much...that is, after all, what puts them in the G8. Obviously nobody on these forums is living in a refridgeator box eating nothing but dead rats... So what do you care if the government takes an extra 10 cents out of your paycheck each month. is that dime really the difference between life and death for you? It is for some of the people in Africa... when 10 cents can buy them a meal.

I just don&#39;t understand why you wouldn&#39;t want to help another human being...any living thing. especially when it costs you so little.
