I was confused at first if my message did get sent actually or not since I didn't get a sent message copy. lol

Yeah I got your entry :)
You need to activate the sent messages folder by going to Settings/General Settings/Private Messaging and check the option "Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default" and then save the changes.
Now all the messages you send will automatically be saved in a folder.
