I'm a newbie, trying to teach myself Photoshop CS. Trying to learn through doing tutorials.
I got as far as taking out the right side, then I noticed on your layers palette that the backgrounds are transparent. Thats where I bombed out. Can't figure out how to make the black disappear.
I'm not sure what you're doing wrong... the brush and the black background should be on the same layer... what do you mean by I can't make the black disappear? You selected the half you didn't want, and deleted it right? And then you copied the layer, and flipped it? Right? Try it again... I'm not sure what you're doing wrong. If it still doesn't work, post a picture or PM me with more detail ^^
theres a thing in the middle of the end result anyways its a good tut. maybe using the gradient thing is better if colouring fire.
It's ok... I don't know what it could be used for though.

Very Nice Tut Pink...N XRedblazeX Side 2 Looks Cool :D
Yeah... This isn't a "flexible" result. Meh. Probably gradient/overlaying would color it nice...r. o___O;; Nice results xredblazex ^^
Omg omg omg omg omg I got into good-tutorials! w00t. ... Sorry I ate cake for breakfast. *hyper* Wheeee.... ^^
when u want a sort of flame color:
(first merge both halves in to 1 layer)
copy the layer
Ctrl+U for first layer -> Colorize and settings: 0;25;0
then Ctrl+U for second layer -> Colorize and settings: 34;25;0
then make sure that the "red" layer is the above layer
set blending mode -> Color Dodge

Cool. The sides of it look kinda weird... I guess you could cut out the main circle part and paste it on another background... and make a fire orb or some crap like that. :P I'll be back in a few hours~
