Just because its art doesn't mean you have to like it!.. It depends on if he did it because HE liked and wanted to hang it in HIS house or wanted me to buy it .. which is not going to happen.
Vermillion that's your opinion but wicked is right it's supposed to cause emotion it has, therefore it's art.. plus the whole idea of conceptional art is to have a meaning but is for the viewer to depict their own meaning from viewing it. Th idea of this type of art is to be influental and be more 3d, to involve the audience and to provoke feelings and thoughts.. you can't say it isn't art when you're thinking of one area of art that being realism and such, but there is no dispute this isn't art, you can't dismiss shapes to have no feeling put into them the way you put it.. as so stripped bear of emotion and displaying shapes which you purposely never put any emotion into it to support your views although i can use your intentions as an explanation to your "squiggles" and therefore can supportingly call it art since there is a conceptional emotion that has been displayed by your intentions of this. Punch me in the face by all means but read that.. as for it all this is again just an area of art, you might not be fond of it, but there's no dispute whatsoever that this isn't art.

I don't get why this is still an active thread. I really don't understand why people get all up in arms about what others consider art. What do you care?

Guys, please, no more fighting! It IS art. But, in a bunch of different people's oppinions(including mine). It's not very good art.
But to some people, they find it beautiful. We all have our own unique
styles, so we all have different interests. You never know. What if that guy just loved stuff like that? Or what if he was trying to express something? Just because some of you don't see anything does not mean that it has no meaning. The artist is the one who denies meaning in the art.

I don't know if Albers was a part it, but there was a Dutch art movement called De Stijl, which attempted to purify art by bringing it down to basic colors and forms. It can be considered art because because it was meant to convey emotion, just as Albers' art did.

Yet... it's still art... you may not appreciate it, or like it, but it's art.
