but if you have someting animated in the signature...
should you save it as gif. or png?

.png doesnt allow animation so think.

Great tutorial DE, But man you should change your sig, I have barly seen new work from you.

i havent done any sigs in a long time, more of digital art and such :huh:

dragon, good tut so far but right at step 7 where it says hit ctrl g to mask ( that is a clipping mask right? ) then u say to merge layers so i tried all the merging options ( merge down, merge visible, flatten, selected both then right click an hit merge layers) but nothing seems to happen :unsure: Do you know what might be wrong?

well, selecting layer 2 and then going to layer>merge down worked for me :huh:
and also make sure layer 2 is right above layer 0

if that dont work, then i dont know how to help

to desaturate a layer, select it in the layers window and press ctrl+shft+u.

no u cannot. desaturating means making it black and white.
but you can use any blending style you want dont be so closed minded and follow the tutorial exactly.

Coming towards the end it won't let me crop the transperant stuff off. I have a white border top and bottom.. :\
