as i have said before, i will say again:
Faith is the beleif in something which there is no evidence thereof.
Anyone who believes that a book or parchment, must use 'faith' to beleive that the claims in such written text are the absolute truth. The esense of the christian religion is to have faith in the 'unseen'.
Both the Bible and the Quaran (however you spell it) both have contraditions in it, which even the main stream religious authorties will admit, but make excuses for.
The books were written by men, and not just by one, by many. In the case of the Bible, in more than one language. The Cathlic Church held a big meeting centuries ago to decide which books should be in the modern bible. Men decided this, not God. No void from heaven was recorded as saying "this is my holy word so obey and beleive in it". No, only men have claimed that its the 'word of god'.
There is no publication, text or whatever, that anyone can prove wasn't written by a man or woman. Many that claim it was written by god, but none that can prove it.
Thus I conclude that using quotes from a religious book to prove that it is in fact the truth is so shaky a foundation to base an argument on, that I will not continue this line of argument.
I'm sorry if I find the basis of your faith hard to comprehend, but beleiving that a publication is true because it says it is, is a weird way to determine truth. On another point, there are an awful lot of copies of Hitler's book around, and it claims to be true. But that doesn't make it true. Same as there are tonnes of books about the Atkins Diet being the best diet in the world, or Avon publications preaching how good Avon is better than Amway, but that doesn't make the claims true, just because plenty of people beleive in them.
Truth isn't a democrocy, its a fact.

Sorry mate, but before I turn my life upside down and choose a religion, I want proof that its true, not have to trust that its true.
I don't beleive a politician's claims on the TV, and I wont beleive a Preacher/Priest/Pastor/Iman/etc claims from the pulpit.
Give me some evidence with independant correlation and i will consider it. but give me arguments that have been presented here, and no amount of patience will make me beleive in them.

ahh so you admit that you have no proof? sorry mate, but no one knows absolutly what happens when you die. or if they think they do then they have no indepentadly verifyable proof.
So for me, I will stick to my argument that I will not beleive in any faith unless proof of the faith being true can be proven. And then the 'faith' becomes a fact, so it doesn't matter.
The idea that you need faith to beleive in a fact is contradictory, but the idea that you need faith to beleive in the unknown and unknowable required faith, faith in something with no evidence.
So lets stop pretending that you have evidence, lets just call your beleif systems a faith based belief system and then i will be happy.
