Final Fantasy

ffvii is simply the best, great plot, great metiera (or how ever you spell it) system, great everything. some people think that ff8 is better than ff7 i say to them that they are not a gamer, a person who plays a game purely for graphics or to complete it suck i mean come on if someone made a game where all you do is run around looking at the scenery thats what they would get, ff8 starts amazingly i thought when i first played it omg is this gonna top ff7 but then it starts losing its charm, it seems the designers started to fall asleep one by one, and near to the end it is the crappest ending ever (well apart from shadow of memories) i mean come on if they hired me to make the script and storyline i could do twice as good as that in one night. but the seed idea was superb (until you left the school thing). i did actually like the secret fight with the alien on the beach but most people dont know about that, he was funny. if they had put in half the effort they did in ff7 for the storyline they would come out with a gem, but they spent all the time on the graphics, i mean graphics are a good thing in a game, but they arnt everything you carnt coast through a game on graphics. oh but for the people here what think graphics are more important than gameplay here is something good (is great for the people who like to actually play games too) ff7 is said to be coming out on ps3, and before you say it i know that that thing was just a demo but a week later they said because they got that much good feedback from the demo that they are gonna start remaking it with the new game engine, leaving the great storyline there though. so this will be the mother of all rpgs!!!!!!!!!& #33;!!

get ready ff fans (well wait about 2-3 years first) plus i carnt wait to see advent children, go cloud, ninaki and vincent, my characters of choice.

oh yeah and btw i first played it in 1997 when it had great graphics i mean come on look at driver with its cardboardbox cars and cardboard cutouts, compared to all the other games out it was a frigging movie

People who like 8 best aren&#39;t gamers? Wow that&#39;s a powerfull arguement. I don&#39;t however, consider myself a gamer. Maybe a casual gamer, but because I don&#39;t have such biast views I can apreciate a good game regardless of any other affiliations.

I meantioned graphics once, twice at most. Yes, the graphics are amazing, much better than anything seen before it&#39;s time, but the storyline was also unbeatable. If you actually played through the game, you would actually understand what was going on assuming you were able to follow the story.

I doubt you&#39;ve played the game all the way through. Near the end, you do get to a hole with a lacking storyline, but this is in almost every Final Fantasy. They give you some time to wander the world, see the sights, and do some side-quests before you go back to the story. True, the whole SEED idea would have been pretty sweet, and should be remade into it&#39;s own game, but that wouldn&#39;t follow Final Fantasy&#39;s linear game style.
And just a note, the graphics, the story, the interface, and all other aspects of the game are not done by the same people. You can&#39;t say that they wasted all their time on the graphics, when there was only one team designing the graphics.




Overall, yes FF8 was an extremely graphic intensive game, but the stunning effects were held together by a very in-depth and meaningfull story (for those of you old enough at the time to understand it), an amazing and unique equipment system, and Squaresoft&#39;s signature touch.

i have played the game all the way through and i do think the ragnarok spaceship was pretty cool and stuff but i ment it wasnt really doing anything good after you pass that big bridge. oh and yeah i was trying to explain how the storyline is bad not all the way trhough but after a point in it, and i think that they overdone it with the graphics i think it was a waste to make it look like that because it lacks the charm. and i apologise about what i said earlier, if it offends anyone but i dont think it should offend you redblaze you put up a good arguement about the plot so i dont think you do play it purely for graphics. i always defend ff7 and i kinda go over the top

How about you try to prove how FF7 is better, rather then trying to prove how FF8 is a bad game. That&#39;s usually how this debate is done maturely ;)

Better storyline and a much cooler cast. Squal is kind of a wus. Also Sepheroth is the coolest villain in any game period.

I dont know, I never played 8, but from the huuuge fanbase FF7 has created, many reasons why I hear it was the best was for the story. I guess its almost something you cant really argue, everyone looks for something different in the story y&#39;know?

In rpg&#39;s it is all about the storyline or the gameplay. Not about gfx. Sure gx have something to do with it but not much. 7 is good cus it is fun to play, it is challenging, you can play it for 100+ hours and still not do everything(Believe me I have), has a great storyline, and the cast is just f&#39;n tight.

Well, I&#39;m glad no one here likes X-2 the most ^^; BTW, how long did it take you guys to beat FFVII? I might buy that game since it&#39;s at a low price, but I don&#39;t want to beat it in 20-30 hours =| I beat FFX at 75 hours ^^;

Also alot of you guys said FFVII had the best cast, but is Auron there? I think he&#39;s really awesome, my fave. FFX character. Septheiroth (hard to spell name.. -.-) looks like an awesome guy, I just wish you can actually play him =|.

But one thing that I don&#39;t like about FFVII is that from a site I read that FFX was the first FF game with voice acting, meaning that FFVII didn&#39;t have any; I hate reading text :S..

i hate games period ive past that time in my life, i have to start thinkin about my future and my buddy and his record deal right now thats all i can think about :)

I have beaten 7 in 6 hours, but that was becus i did some shortcuts and had some really cheap items. I once beat 8 in 9. And I also beat X in about 8. IF you know what to do you can do it in under 10 but otherwise plan on doing about 20-30 hours if you don&#39;t want to do everything else. And if you want to beat it completly plan on spending a good 100+ hours.
