Basically what it comes down to is the fact that as humans we're spoiled and take exactly what we want when we want it. If we want to eat a chicken, we'll kill it. If we want to club a seal for the pelt, we'll club it. This question isn't really a matter of meat-eating humans versus vegetarians, but a matter of how selfish we get with our needs.

Killing animals is perfectly fine and not cruel. If I go kill 30 deer, who are mothers, oh well. I mean, it's my choice. As long as hunting/killing/whatever you want to call it is done within, the laws set by your country, it's all good.
