Well, if you think about it makes sense.
Everything is made of atoms. Atoms are made up of electrons and protrons.
Electrons are what matter (they decide what molecule they make up).
You can't brake up a electron. Physically impossible.
So, in theory, (physically), you can't EVER have a number smaller then one. =P
Well for the sake of it not getting too complicated lets just agree that 0.999999999rec = 1 :P
2 + 2 can equal 5

It's not 0.99999, its 0.9999.. repeating. Which means it doesn't terminate, which means there is no 0.000000.....1 to account for.
This thread is great. One of the longest threads I've seen about a repeating decimal. Actually, the ONLY thread I've seen about a repeating decimal.
I'm going to be honest, it doesn't matter to me if .99999999999repeating = 1, cause I don't really care that much. I just look at it this way...If my boss said he was going to cut my pay from 1 dollar an hour to .999999repeating an hour. I'd still be happy...I'd just wanna see that bastard cut a penny into .99999repeating parts...
