1) pentium m= no. pentium 4 = sex
2) i'd recommend getting 2gb ram instead of 1.. you'll need it soon enough, and it makes a hell of a difference in games
3) your video card has.. 128mb or 256? it says 128, but that surprises me with the x700. If it's 256 go with it
4) how fast is your hard drive? (in RPM). It makes a difference.
5) how fast is the dvd drive? that also makes a difference
"quoted: P-M (533mhz fsb) at 2.13ghz is one of the fastest chips out there, dekstop or notebook. Competes with teh p4ees and FX-55. It laso does it using less power and creating less heat."

do you have a money cap? because i can suggest others that are better than those
the problems i see is
-u need 2gb ram
-u need 256mb video card memory
-go with the pentium 4. My HP puts out no heat (literally, it NEVER gets hot) and it has a 3.4ghz P4.. IMO the pentium m just doesn't cut it
Newegg has some good stuff, also check out

No.. No problem with the $ but I need something light.. any suggestions?
-Light
-Powerful
-Battery Life
Just thought you like to know
Dell's XPS-2 got a mark of 10868 in 3dmark03
Alienware's 51m 7700 got mark of 8971 in 3dmark03
Both systems are of same specs except dell's run pentium M (2.14 ghz)
and alienware's on p4 3.6ghz...
Low voltage usage allows dell to optimize their gfx cards better..

1) alienwares suck so you can't compare them to anything. I had one, it was the worst investment i've ever made. i had to file a claim and eventually got my money back by catching them in a lie. its sitting in a heap in my basement. Dells are crap too. alienware is a branch off of dell
2) If you want light, you prolly wont be able to get all the high specs i was encouraging you to get. I, personally, would prefer more perfomance, but thats just based on how many games/high perfomance programs i do.
3) my battery life is about an hour and a half.. longer if i'm not watching a movie or games. That is not bad compared to what it has. I just bought myself a car adapter so I can use it how long as I want. If you can't do that, you can always buy an additional battery.
Vaio's are incredibly light and compact.. they are good for media and business applications, but not ideal for performace.. i still think HP is your best bet because it has great power, decent price, and is reliable. My HP is heavy, probably about the same as most laptops with its specs, but i don't really care.. it's in a case if i carry it anywhere.

Is your hp about 10 pounds?

hmm not sure haven't weighed it.
it really doesn't bother me.. its nothing too heavy. that's the least of your problems. the only reason i'd get a really light laptop is cuz i was going camping and needed to carry it for miles up a mountain or something o.O

ok.. I'd decided to ignore the weight now.. Guess I'm just going to leave it on the table.. But how long is the average lifespan of a hp laptop? I heard they break down quite quickly.. BTW purity,, take a look.. http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.as...70ct479&page=13
