And about stopping the arguement, perhaps you haven't read the other threads. Every time I close a thread, I get complained to and a new thread appears.

How was it an arguement? It didn't contain any flaming until dcn posted his comment to, what appeared to be, the threadstarter. - Quite frankly, I'm just confused about that situation...

On top of all that, this thread doesn't need to be closed. Instead of just condemning people, why not just let them straighten it out? That's what communities need... a "This Grinds my Gears" forum. Where people can settle their differences. Outside of that, it stays friendly. However, I don't have the powers to do something like that... hell, I can't even look up members in the ModCP.

Quit turning every godforsaken thread into an argument. I don't care if you're a new member or a "classic" member, just stop it...

well super mod or not, the point is, and don't take offense because I am just speaking friendly and from experience, no staff should get involved. If what you want is a place where people can talk crap to each other then that's one thing (but count me out) but if what you're looking for is a friendly graphics community where people can come to make friends, have fun, and learn graphics...then staff should never be involved with arguments and should put a stop to it ASAP. It should just be locked. No reason needed because if they flaming and it is obvious people are getting angry or offended...then it should stop then and there.

You not having the power...that should be fixed, or some active people with good judgment would be staff (not saying you are not any of those qualities).

Here is my reasoning...there are a tons of graphics communities out there. Tons. I have been a member of probably 90% of them...and I don't mean to compare anyone to DI but they had the best friendly community and that is what made them stand out from the rest. That is also why they had so much talent there and they were active. Two people arguing does not seem like a big deal...they go at it, hash it out...then everything is cool. Except for the rest of the members and kids who see this and duplicate it attacking people...then the majority who just want to have fun have to see all this and it makes them want to leave.

You see what I am saying. DI did have great talent and all that crap. But what made them stand out over the rest was the friendliness of the community and the strict but fair hand of the staff to keep things under control.

I'm going to go post my noob sig in the sotw cause I told SD I'd come here and try to be somewhat active. I realy hope you (as in all the stass/admins) consider my words. If you want to be a great community then consider it, because at the moment, it seems it is no different then NSL or AO or Fathom or whoever.

Hope it didn't seem harsh, wasn't my intention just friendly advice from a noob.

I'm sorry to hear that you're leaving. I would try to convince you to stay, but the fact is that, due to conflicting views, there is a bit of drama here (however, unlike what you said, it is far different from NSL or Fathom. The problem they had were abusive management styles). I can understand your desire to leave: You're new, and you don't have any context on what this drama is about.

well, that is where the mods/staff what ever you want to call them, needs to keep their foot down. Don't let the members who cause problems cut of their balls. Kick 'em. What is the loss? A disruptive member? Good riddance.

On the flip side, due you could loose good members before you even get them...

True, but what's the point of kicking semi-disruptive members if they're about 1/10 of your active posters. Plus, we have to decipher what is determinable as "disruptive". If you ask me, this is moreso discussive. We're sorting problems out between members. It's not really spam, and the flames have already been subdued.

Easier said than done my friend. We can't simply ban them, we don't have that power... locking threads doesn't do a thing seeing as how they merely repost. I'm trying to contact John now, and discuss the issue with moderator powers (for the second or third time).

no i understand it's easier said then done. trust me lol. It sounds the real issue here is the mods not having the proper authority, or a lack of admin presence.

But I do think it is a great idea to get the mods togehter and discuss with the admin about this...Someone has to have the power to keep things under control.

and just to make it clear, im not saying kill every little argument, just when people get offended/pissed/flamed/etc. it should stop there.

It should be in rules somewhere as well so people have no ground to stand on when you lock the thread.
