I hear that. I usually go tell them that it's all well and good that they can play their Yngwie Malmsteen, or their Michel Angelo Batio, but go write something creative and original, and you'll win my respect.Quote:

Haha, yeah. I think guitar-playing ability is one of those things that the closer you get to, the more blurred things are (like god. Haha, pseudo-deep metaphor FTW). For instance, Slash is a great guitar player, but I hate Guns N' Roses. The same goes for every other 80s piece of shit hair-metal band. And it's not to say that super-fast guitar solos aren't impressive, but let's face it: Listening to Canon on your guitar gets old really fast.
So that's why as a moral I don't consider myself a solo guitarist (which, is also why Adam Jones is one of my favorite guitarists.)
But this all could probably be linked back to my love for melody rather than intensity.
There are a few bands with great guitarists that know how to behave themselves, though... I particularly enjoy listening to Josh Homme and Omar. A Rodriguez(Although I side with Omar because he's left handed). And 60s guys like Jimmy Page and Hendrix may have done intense, long solos, but they made those solos way more interesting than what I see on youtube.
I respect your decision about adam jones :D, great guitarist in my opinion.
