So I'm assuming it doesn't have to be large elements of the sig at all. From looking at http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/16/kkllkklklkllk.jpg.

First sig was made
Second sig took the intersecting lines like to find longitude latitude
Third sig took the same but turned it into target allocated
Fourth sig took the whole gun element

So just little elements like that ? Or is there more that I'm missing.

Basically just enough to be recognizable. And there's more elements than that that are shared among each of them. A lot of the time, they're just blended in further. Like you can see the digital display on the left in the second one, just blended in further than it was in the first, hell it goes all the way to the fourth one.
