Actually, explorer is the shell. and will respawn by itself, however you don't EVER want to kill your shell during normal system use because it can lead to some serious problems.

You also don't want to kill most of your SVChost's, they can be important.

i have so much space and ram i can run the world from my pc... except i can't get this darn antivirus to shutdown :P

most anti virus software programs have two services, one is the anti virus scan engine, the other is a watch dog.

On some computrs, if the anti virus sofware is terminated the watch dog will shut down the computer. on others it will just restart the anti virus software.

If you dont want it running then it may be best to uninstall.

thanks :) it's just it was a good antivirus but since i installed some adobe programs yesterday it wouldn't let me use them (version cue, and GOlive)
