I disagree. Combining brushsets and filters is.. sig level.. I'd say stay away from brushes. Filters are ok, I use a few still (mainly gaussian/radial blur), so nothing wrong with filters. But by downloading other's brushsets, you use something that someone else has made. If you go to Bluesfere, everybody hate people who uses brushes.Quote:

the next couple things you should try are combining brush sets, and filters, then maybe a real drawing, colouring it in, learn your own style, dont copy every one elses.
Its not like im aganst tuts, just dont make every image from a tut, move into your own style, your own methods, and then the image will truly become yours.

And trying to copy other's styles is the best way to improve your technique and get better. It's just like drawing. If you have a favourite drawer or something that makes awsome sketches and paintings, try to copy the style. I don't say use the style as your main style, I'm saying improve your own style. I'll give you an example. My ex has drawn for 2½ years. Her Easter Witch had a Daily Deviation on DeviantART a while ago. She got this far so quick because she looked at other's drawings and tried to copy their style. I would give an example of someone who didn't look at other's drawings at all, but has drawn 2½ years, but I couldn't find her pics, sorry. It was pretty horrible though. :D
So take my advice, DO copy other styles. You will develop your own style in time.
