I don't think you are allowed to ask for help on SOTW entries, you are on your own in that department. maybe I'm wrong and you can ask people what they think of your entry so you can change otherwise if you can't smudge, maybe Rad or Dom know for sure.

You're not allowed to ask for opinions public at the forum. The whole idea with SOTW is it shall be all you, since your the one that registers the signature with your username. It's an every men for them selves competition. Would you feel good if you won with a signature that a bunch of guys had an input in....

Do you only need a bit of smudge? I am working on a tag that has a small bit of smudge on colour dodge and it isnt very visible, would this be ok?

Spartan, the tag has to have some representation of smudging. If it's not noticeable then no.
