you would probably be better off going to pixel2life.com and getting a tutorial with "how to apply a material" and "how to render", i think theres a tutorial for the latter on here.

I think my render looks cool now, but it looks flaT!
It has totally no deapth, and if I add a material, it looks like it's a shaped disk!!
