Soccer is cool and requires considerable more talent, but football is better to watch sometimes. And as to if America is the best or whatnot think about it this way, A person broke into a house and broke his leg, and he sued. He WON!!! WTF!!!! This is the only country where bullshit like that can happen. Thats the beauty or downfall of this country really is the justice system. And the fact that we can make fun of our president on national tv doesn't hurt either.
My thoughts on America:
Well, in my opinion America is most certainly not the 'best'. If I were to sum the country up I would call it a greedy self-obsessed nation who has little consideration for everybody else. That's what I truly believe. I find it fascinating that the European Union has a bigger economy than the USA and almost twice America's population, yet we don't let out nowhere near as much emissions (yes, i'm going into Global Warming). Europe for the most part live a good standard of life, so why doesn't America bring its extravagance down to our level and do the world a favour, before Global Warming does indeed take over and destroy all the beauty we've ever known.
Referring back to what I said about the nation having little consideration, I mean that they're refusing to reduce their emissions and join the Kyoto Agreement. The Kyoto Agreement, for those who don't know, is a treaty that many of the world's natons have signed onto in agreeing to reduce their carbon emissions. I think it's unacceptable that they have flat out refused, yet they get away with it because they can -- because they're the world's most powerful nation and everybody is secretly scared of them. And I hate that. They remind me of ... a school bully.
And, don't get me wrong here, when I refer to the USA as a nation, I refer to the Government and all those who support what the Government stand for. I am not referring to the general American. I have quite a lot of love for some of the American people. I'm great friends with one I talk to on MSN; she's a wonderful girl. Also, they are a fellow English-speaking nation like Britain, which is ... comforting. So the American people I have no problems with. And who knows, I probably wouldn't have an issue with the country if its Government would do the right thing and sign Kyoto -- make an effort to reduce its emissions. Its excuse for not cutting back its emissions was that it would damage the economy. Might I remind you all that America has by far the greatest economy in the world, and even if Kyoto did damage it they would still be ahead of every other country and at least they would have the rest of the world's respect.
I just ... find it quite disgusting that the USA lets out more emissions than the European Union, when in fact we have the 456,953,258 million population (verses America's 298,444,215 ) thus having more poeple to sustain. If anything, Europe should let out more emissions, no?

But alas, stepping off America's greedy nature ... my other reasons why America aren't the 'best'
Culture. Yes, I do think they lack culture. I think, generally, they have a British culture gone wrong -- gone greedy -- gone cheap fast food restaurants and obesity. Wouldn't ... wouldn't we all prefer to go to Paris and have a moonlit dinner with our special other, overlooking the Parisian river and the Eifel Tower? That is culture.
And they also lack history. Obviously they have a limited history because they only existed when the 'New World' was discovered. Europe certainly has more in terms of castles and ancient crusades.
But overall, I do think America are greedy egotists. Too proud -- one thing they share with the French. One situation shows their slightly worrying thirst for power is the current situation in China. I think America is actually panicking. China's economy is set to surpass theirs by 2050, and America is now taking measures to supress China. It just goes to show their desire to stay on top. Another thing which I quite despise about them. They've been on top for far too long now -- they've grown too used to it and pride has got the better of them.
Yeah, now I'm really rambling ... no one's going to read this.
If you want my opinion on which is the best country: Well then, it might suprise you but I wouldn't say Britain, even though I was born and raised here. I think our current Prime Minister is quite feeble. He's George Bushes lap dog in my opinion. I know I certainly wouldn't succumb to America if I were Minister. I haven't the faintest idea why we're in Iraq, but I suppose it's just to toddle behind America.
To the point, my favourite country -- I don't really have one, but I would most probably say Europe as a whole. All that history. All that culture on your doorstep: London, Paris, Berlin, Rome ... all with different quirks and ways of life. Europe is very concerned with Global Warming, and at times I think we are the only ones who are. We were responsible for pressuring Japan, Canada and Russia into the Kyoto treaty, and I'm really proud to call myself European. I'm very pro-EU and I'm glad to have found new friends from Ukraine and Norway.
From what I remember by reading an article on the BBC, Europe's economy is falling slightly, particularly in Italy and Spain. I'm assuming this is from cutting emissions with the Kyoto agreement, but guess what: Europe continues to ratify it. We do what is needed for the preservation of this world, not what is needed to boost our own power. I think we truly are a continent to be proud of and we have made great changes since World War Two. We are now a unified Europe and I'd rather be nowhere else in the world. (Except maybe Japan. Video games rock!)
I'm sorry about the length; I got wrapped up in my own argument. And, no offense to any American/Non-American who reads this.

By the way, I like soccer :D They call it soccer because........ hm............ you kick it when wearing socks? I need to think about this for a moment :P
Now I see a few flaws wih people hating america on here. 1 we don't like football/"soccer" ok if we don't like a sport that doesn'tmean you should hate us. it's just that, a sport. plus there is a growing increase in america with soccer.2. No culture ummm anyone ever hear of a little thing called Baseball, apple? that is are culture. are culture isn't like most because were still a very young country. we do have culture it's just very different. fastfood and getting fat isn't are culture. you have to remember with such a large country every part has a very different culture. where i'm from eating lobster is part of my culture but if you go inland 500-900 miles most people have never seen one any or have heard of one. plus u have to remember that we don't have one like say the french because were a HUGE melting pot for so many different cultures from around the world. I know are goverment sucks and there is nothing we can do about that. I myself blame religion on are focked up goverment.

the majority are fine but there just seems to be more annoying people from America, probably because theres so many people from America.
the political situation with america is appalling; China is becoming an economic powerhouse, and America is only thinking short-term profit. soon china will be in power and they will most likely try and spark up communism in other countries... eg world war 3. all because America is greedy (politically) and china is brainwashing it's own people into thinking that communism is a solution to everything.. sigh. i almost wish my sister hadnt told me all of this political crap :( then i wouldnt have to worry about it.

I do not agree with that above comment. The people from the south are most likely the nicest people you will ever meet, granted there are a few teenage hilljacks. People from the midwest are pretty nice too.
I was joking for the most part. I have friends from the south. the only problem with the south is that there for the most part all about Bush. They have a really poor education system down there. My friend who lives in Alabalma that the people had to Sue the state because of how shitty the schools were.
Well... I've read that of teenage Americans, 10% do not know where US is on the map....
