I made this a while ago now, I think it's still one of my best works. It really is the last finished personal project of mine. It takes a while for me to make things, with work and all.
A picture of two planets colliding, the one on the left is inhabited. Made entirely in PhotoShop 7.
i like the fact that it was entirely made in photoshop.. maybe you could write a tut on how you did the planets and the lighting and stuff

Well, the lighting is just a smudged lens flare... The planets are another story. I may write a tutorial for planet and star creation when I get my website back up.

It's actually my third attempt at space art. I don't like using tutorials... It's more fun to figure those things out on your own.

I for one am all about using Tuts when necessary. But, hey thats just me. I'm all for a challenge, but after a long day at work/school, I'd rather not. Lol. I really like the whole image, and its fucking awesome. It kinda looks like earth and mars... and not so much colliding as just passing by. That kinda looks like you can see the sun through the space between the two. Thats just my opinion though...

I've seen lots of others do this concept. They usually spend hours brushing huge displays of fire. I chose to make it more subtle... As if you are viewing the initial impact between the planets. The bright flash of the hydrogen in the atmoshpheres igniting apon first contact.
It really isn't supposed to be Earth and Mars... It just so happens that if an inhabitable planet ever crashes into another, it wont be crashing into an ice planet... I originally had it a tan/brown color. But I thought red fit it better.

You seem to know something about brushes then... tell me, how do you make them glow? I would really like to use some brush effects that look like there is a glow on them... plus, this site could use a glowing brush tut.
