What are your feelings on god, and why?
I believe in god! I dont think someone would have just made up the bible so I follow it :D.
I believe in god or why would I have spent all my little years going to church.
I'm personally undecided, because I know that there is a great power out there, but I have never seen it on my own. There are some things that make me judge god's existence (The Wave That Killed 150,000 People), and there are some things that make me believe that god exists.
I believe in God, just take a look around you, nothing less would have been able to make such things. yea, there are things like the massive wave, but just think, that helps out our global overpopulation issues, and i bet that in a few years, that area will be better off then how it was before the wave. And there IS a reason for everything, whenever something seems to go wrong, there will always be something that comes out of it. He does not what he is doing, and why, even when we don't, So YES, i do believe in god.
I'm undecided at the moment, although in most cases I believe in god. Theres things in my life that really challenge the beleif of god - so I really dont know.
I'm starting to believe in god again, every time I go to church I start to believe in god just a little more. The main reason I only believe in him, is because that's the only way you will get into heaven.
Awesome man, continue going to church, i promise, it is a GOOD thing. and alos, when you start to go more and more you will notice things in your life start to change, for the better! keep it up man, there are many more things great about knowing god than just getting into heaven, i promise!!!!!!!! 3;
I dont mean to be a dick, but what has god really EVER done for you?Quote:

EVERYTHING, bro, without him, i would have none of the freakin awesome stuff i do today. i thank him everyday for what he has granted me. its really one of those things that, when you hear it, and your REALLY think about it, it really makes sense. its a great topic to "ponder" upon, and i hate to ponder.
I belive in so many thing.. the energi of colors, stones, seeds... And I guess since I do belive that all of this is from God, I also belive it`s good.
No matter if your`re a beliver or not.. the only thing we really KNOW is that we have this life.. so I guess we should live it as best as we can..
And try to make our parents proud of us. Not of money or material things, but proud of how we akt and really are as a person.
It`s sad, but they are usually right ;)
Have any of you read 'the da vinci code' ? It shows all of his work and how he didn't beleive in god. It also says how the church asked people to write stories and the most beleivable ones were put in 'the bible'. I think it's something like that:SAnd anyways, if God has no true form , how did he write this book , how did he create human beings? Has he got humanshop cs on his gas formed pc or something?
And also , why should you let someone choose how to live your life for you? If god is our creater wouldn't he want us to be free .... not working around this bible
Sorry if i offended anyone ... but it's my opinion and i don't like to lie, i agree with you aswell Tanna Live life to the full! Like trampolining on a skateboard!
Everything? So gods making you type that, eh? I just can't believe that. Its all luck and science - simple as that. I doubt god made you do great things in you'r life - that was your free will.
Give me a specific example of what god has done for you - and I would love to refute it.
From a belivers opinion I do also belive that our free will is a gift.Quote:

And how we use our free will is up to us.
I have a loving family, and two sons.
Since I do belive that all life comes from God I`m grateful for it.
But I don`t go to any church.. I don`t see the meaning in that.. I prefer discuss with family and friends.. I`m openminded, but I think churches sometime have a mass-suggesion (I don`t know how to spell it) on the people. It`s like brainwash, and has nothing to do with free will.
I don`t mean to offend anyone and I don`t mean it`s like that everywere..
In the Bible you can read about many examples were people went outside their houses.. away from the crowed and called on God..
So I think my "church" is everywere I am.
And when I use my talents I do think God understand that I`m grateful.
i was sort of force fed religion i went to catholic school k-12 at times i dont understand why God does things and right now im sort of inbetween. so i dont attend Church like i should but i do know that when im lonely and i need someone to talk to talking to God makes me feel soo much better. hes with you when u think no one else cares. whether its a god in someform he or she will listen
Hey taco, there's your proof man, have you ever tried it? if not, i you should. not too be rude or anything.Quote:

God , is just a figament of your imagination people invented to blame everything good and bad on. That's what i beleive anyways, you think you're talking to god , and you think he's listening and you don't know any different.
no one really knows until they die and find out for themselves though
I beleive in being another human after you've died but you can't remember this life ... kind of ... or you just become one with the world
Thats a good question. But alot of people who b-leave, will tell you a sly remark.Quote:

And my answer is:
Did you wake up this morning?
Because if you did, then you should be very thankful you did.
Because alot of people don't and you are very fortunet to do so.
I b-leave in Gon and also b-leave that Jesus died for my sins.
I want to goto Heaven but the more and more I think about it, I'm close to be bounded to Hell.
I need to read and follow the Bible and thats it.
Church is for people to give up their money.
I made 200 dollars in donations 2 years ago.
And never got anything back from it.
I gave 200 because it was supposed to come back to me 10 fold(do the math).
But b-leave in what you want to b-leave in, I'm not gonna hate you for that.
Just know I got love for everyone(cept terrorists, eagle and yankees fans).
this is a personall topic which i dont want to talk bout
I agree with crofty, I also dont believe in god. btw, the bible wasnt written by god, it was written by people and it wasn't written 2000 yrs ago. Like crofty said, god is only imaginary, there are those who believe it to be true. also I think (not to offend anyone) alot of christians/catholics are hypocrits. I mean, if you believe in what the bible says, why do they judge people? I believe that in the bible it says 'only god can judge'? correct me if I'm wrong here.
But again, that's my opinion.
imho,
god is not real...he's a big crutch that was embraced by civilization to help them deal with the problems in their lives... its easier to say: "well, its gods will that 150thousand+ people just died for no aparent reason" than it is to just say, hey its their own fault for living in an area at risk of such things. Its also their fault for not LEAVING the coastline when the obvious signs of something bad about to happen.
he's a subconcious support crutch for the masses that are not able to cope with reality on their own.
once again, this is in my humble opinion only. AND i would like to note, that i have read the bible, more than once, and I have attended church before, and i have never witnessed anything to warrent the existance of anything close to an "almighty power".
Thats my opinion on the topic... so let the flames begin >.<
That's also what i beleive, that 'god' was made because beack in the old days people didn't know what was going on , what a shoting star was , what caused a flood. If they would have dfo you think 'god' would be here now? No , because that was their fallout plan incase something really bad happened, someone to relay your thoughts to and convince yourself you're safe.
*Just my thoughts... *
This is one of my absolute favorite topics of discussion, wether in person, or online, or whatever. I'll prefece a little here.
When I was ten I read the bible, and about halfway through I began to get the sneaking suspicion that most of these stories sounded a lot like the "American Indian FABLES" and "Greek MYTHS" I had been reading in school. Johna Lived in a whale, Moses packed 2 of EVERY animal on a boat... So I realized that these were just fables created to teach people right from wrong. And if you read the bible and follow it's teachings according to YOUR understanding of them, more power to you. There's some great lessons in there. But keep in mind that these stories were passed around by word of mouth for hundreds of years before they were collected into "The Bible". Look how distorted a rumor in your own school/workplace can get in ONE day, now imagine 300 years of that. And even then the book was written and maintained by a very elitist and secretive group of monks and religious leaders. Whom, during the dark ages, manipulated and controlled the peasant popullation through knowledge, which we all know is power. There is a reason why the Vatican's library has gold plated walls, and yet jesus was a poor carpenter. Organized religion, especially in the middle ages but even still today, is a way of controlling people that is all. Don't think because they brandish crucifixes and can quote scripture that they are any more holy than you or I.
Over the years I studied every religion I could get literature about. Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Juedaism, Christianity, Islam, etc., etc. And after you've studied enough religions you start to notice common threads in each. I noticed that in the western religions "god" was a being far above mankind, so much so that mankind could NEVER ever understand or witness gods majesty. These also happened to be the religions which celebrated in wealth and were and still are plagued with greed. Whereas in a lot of the eastern religions which sort of object to personal belongings they say that god is in you, that you can reach god and understand god. So I sort of settled on an amalgum which I put together myself through cut outs of existing religions, great philosophies, my own experiences, and I guess some divine insparation. I settled on the belief that I am in fact god. And it's very simple to prove, at least to me. When you/I close my eyes...does the person I'm standing in front of still have a face. Your first response is "yes of course." because that's how you've been trained your entire life. But really, look at a person and then close your eyes. Tell me, do they have one eye open and one eye closed, are they smiling? you don't know, because they don't have a face anymore. If you touch them, they exist, but if you take your hand away do they have mass? no, not until you experience it. This is sort of in parrelel with theory that by observing an atom you change it's reaction. Your witnessing it, changes it. But without witnessing it how do you know what it's doing? you don't because it's not doing anything, it doesn't exist yet. So, if you didn't exist, would the world exist? I don't think so. But hey....that's just my opinion on it all. I'm sure someone will disagree, but maybe I helped open someones eyes to the possibilty of different individual thoughts and ideas.
I'd like to just make one last comment, I know anyone that actually read all this must be exhausted by now...
"God" is a security blanket to a lot of people, it makes life easier to believe that a being better, smarter, faster, stronger than you are has deemed this path in your life to be the correct path for you. A family members dies, it was gods will, god does know much better than we what needs to be done. You got the new job, it's gods gift, god is showing me that this is my true calling in life. I'm not saying it's right, and I'm not saying it's wrong. But it's pointless to try and "prove" to someone that their religious views are wrong. Try taking a security blanket away from a 2 year old...same difference, except they've had this one all their lives.
But hey, what do I know I'm just some faceless text on a website.
God is a personal experience.
i dont believe god made the world etc, I think ppl just like to believe he's real for reasurrance and support and hope that when they die something good will come of them, kind of like a comfort. I think gods the invisible friend that lives in the back of our minds who we talk to and ask for advice when we're feeling low
Well the first thing I have to say is in reply to your post...Unit. Moses gathered 2 of every animal on a boat? You mean all this time I was lied to about it being Noah? After reading that, everything else you wrote was pointless in me reading if you think Moses and the Ark are one.Quote:

Now for the topic in hand. My opinion, God is exactly what humanity has always wanted. Someone to place the blame on. That's all he's their for. It's a bonfire story from thousands of years ago. Maybe I'm wrong and he exists, I don't know. I do know I argue religion all the time and have been told by more than one person that only very few people will go to heaven. Maybe 200k people at the most. So why the hell does everybody try to be good and pray for heaven if the bible says only a few will go? I myself haven't read it, if I have, I don't remember it. I see one thing and one thing only. I am mortal, my time here is limited. I'll be damned if I'm gonna live it any other way then the way I want to. I haven't believed in god for as long as I can remember, which is only about 10 years or so. I wake up every day breathing, the same things happen to me that happen to everybody else, whether they are godfearing or not. He doesn't exist, it's all your imagination. Kind of like how you can make yourself sick if you believe you are. I do think, to an extent, that everything happens for a reason, but it isn't god playing with our strings. I don't know how many, if any, of you read, any of you that do and that have read The Wheel of Time series will understand what I'm about to say. I think in reality, it's a bit similar to how it is in the book. We are all a thread in a large plan. A set path, yet we can make a decision that can change the path. I also believe that this world was once inhabited by human beings far superior in intelligence than we are, and we went through a backwards evolution, then started evolving again. i also believe that this will repeat itself again, not in our lifetime, but sometime. These are my beliefs, and before any of you ask:
No, I do not do drugs, nor have I ever done drugs in my life!
my fellings are htat he is real because just think of all the people that have had cancer or some disease and it just disapeard or when that Elizebeth smart was kidinapped and then magisticly some one rememberred her and call the FBI. None of that was a big coininesdence.
Yeah, I guess when someone slips up and accidentally uses the wrong name for something all their other points are null. It's not like anyone makes mistakes in this day and age.Quote:

I personally don't believe in God. I have never gone to church nor do I consider going to church.
In my opinion, I think people take in a religion because they feel better when they have something to believe, kind of like having something to fall back on or hold on to.. Then again, I was never exposed to much religion and I was never told to believe anything.
Hmm, is everyone just going to keep saying the same thing now? Right after i mentioned that God is a fallout guy... Fair enough i know you probably beleive that .. but still....

so many forums , so many times ive had this argument.
i dont beleive in god... because there is no proof. i beleive in science.
and to quote super nintendo chalmers :P
"Prayer has no place in the public schools, just
like facts have no place in organized religion."
oh and this ones my favorite
"One might be asked "How can you prove that a god does
not exist?" One can only reply that it is scarcely
necessary to disprove what has never been proved."
[David A. Spitz]
well i think im Undecided because he hasnt really done anything for me, but there are some cases that i believe in him, because when i count all of the times i could of been dead... example....i almost got run over 2 days ago (true) the car just stopped about 30cms away from my face, so i think he saved me that day or just the brakes on the car were very good ;)
Who says god is a he
I've tried to read these... and to tell you the truth, these God lovers write an awful lot to defend Him. Its just too much to read. Based on my own personal beliefs (and because Hypocrisy isnt fun) I dont believe in God. You can believe in anything you want, I personally like to think of Fate and Destiny. But anyway... I think, if God was so real and all powerful (this is gonna sound redundant) then he would have done something about all those people he avidly speaks out about. He would also have done something when Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation. And further more, how can you deny evolution? Fine, dont look at people as evolving, but look at the world around you. We went from living in caves, to living in buildings that touch the sky. That my friends, is evolution.
I believe.. doesn't matter if it's Jesus or Allah or whatever. I believe in something.
Some people consider religion is just a quick answer to all what's unclear ( how this whole world happenend and stuff like that )
And now people are trying to find out ( began with molecules and stuff )
But no scientist can explain your soul.. your faith. That's god..
Faith is merely a coping tool. Having Faith that something better than you, more powerful, has your best interests at heart. Is guiding you, or going to better you. Faith is just for coping. Without fear, there would be no faith.
couldnt agree more....
hope is good for people who need it.
people want to hope that jesus will save them or watever , good on them , its the ones that preach shit to me that piss me off.
