Wow! It looks very good, but I think the orb is a bit to smooth... Maybe you can try to add something wich makes it looks like it's been made of glass...
So you can see it's an hardened object (sorry for me beeing vague <_<)

well you could shrink it and make it an avatar (shrugs), but very nice job on the orb, what wouwousoft suggested might look pretty and clean but i like it like this...

Well it's supposed to not show the glass thingy ;) but I can remove the glass layer on the orb and you will see it isn't an orb anymore ;)
Well, I'd have to say that's pretty slick.
One little thing though, the edges on the orb are bit pixelated. Particularly the white edging.
It'd be a pretty cool avatar though, pass it off as one and it can stay in this section ^_^
It's pixelated because I made the border a bit too thick :P
But I'll just wait for it to be moved, cuz I have a Cool *uhum* avatar :P
Hey that's pretty cool, if you're into web design you could always shrink it and use as a button? Meh ... that's just my opinion

You obviously aint put a lot of thought into it, why is the light reflecting from 4 different directions?
The light on the orb is coing from 120 degrees while on the other outer thing it is coming from 4...
i know its picky but if you ever want to do digital art or things like that you need to be picky...
