so i have mono

so i went to the doctor today thinking i probably had strep throat cause i have like white dots in the back of my throat but it turns out i have mono.

When i swallow it litterally is the worst thing ever...i cant drink anything or eat without it hurting terribly.
The doctor didnt give me any medicine either just some stuff i spray in the back of my throat that doesnt help at all...I have been eating popsicles and ice cream all day but it hurts soooooooooooooooooo bad.

Does anyone know how long mono takes to go away?

Mono is caused by a virus, and it can't be cured. Just like the common cold, influenza and chicken-pox cannot be cured.

Let your immune system do the work. Depending how strong it is, the faster you'll get better.

I had mono, took about a month to completely get over. about a week and i could cope with it. Almost everyone gets mono, they probably didn't know it though. Most people think it's just a cold. It's basically like chicken pox, a week of torture, and then you'll never have to deal with it again. better to get it over with now than when you've got a job and can't take a week off.

but today i feel alot better and i can at least swallow

Seriously, almost everyone has gotten mono. but it doesn&#39;t really effect everyone the same, and it&#39;s usually just diagnosed as allergies or a passing case of strep throat. You need a blood test to show it as mono. Even if you haven&#39;t heard of it, you&#39;ve probably gotten it.

Yeah. I have had alot of friends and people I know who had mono. =P

think i might have it too.. about a week ago for a good long week my throat killed like mad it doesn&#39;t hurt and i&#39;ve gotten used to it.. but being off school for exams has helped it pass easily, hope you get better man it&#39;s a bitch..

Oh i&#39;ve had that :D heheh. I got it when i was about 8 it sucked, my mum thought i had some weird cancer or something because the glands on my neck swelled up so bad&#33; Yeah.. it won&#39;t last that long, mine stayed for a week or 2, with the first few days being the worst.. as usual :D

That was probably your lymph nodes, that swelled up. Mine are always swollen, beacuse I got allergies and shit. Maybe mono... -______-
