Looks like a pretty nice college. Congrats man! You've already met their expectations since they accepted you so now lets see if they meet yours heh.
grats!!

Congrats! Sheridan is famous for its animation:)
Wicked :) Good luck :D
I just quit college its shit >.<
UK College is not same as US College btw.
Fade, congrats on getting accepted. That's great news.
Ben, how is college different in the UK?
College in UK is just Further Education, you gain A-levels which you need (help??) get you into University, which is the same (similar?) as US college.
College - you just go to a few lessons a day depending on subjects
Uni - You sometimes live there week days and have large projects etc.
In the US there are technical/vocational schools that generally teach certification programs, junior/community colleges that usually only go up to the associates degree level (2 years) and also sometimes have certification programs as well, then beyond those are colleges & universities.
So, after high school these are the general options:
- technical/vocational schools
- junior/community colleges
- colleges & universities
I believe the only real difference between colleges & universities in the US is that universities, as far as I know, are typically made up of several colleges (but not always).
So in the UK, college would maybe be similar to junior/community colleges in the US (or maybe technical/vocational school)...
grats on getting accepted.
no i think our college is similar to your highschool take a few years, and also our uni is equivilant to your college all this difference in colleges just depends on how far you want to take education or depending on the degree you want
Hmm Our college is like high school but you do not have to go and you choose what lessons you wold want etc. And in some cases you get paid to go.
it's why i prefer american education, highschool over there is much better than our college.. much better..
Yeah John, college in the UK is sort of an intermediary between school (your high school) and university. You can do full courses at college, such as national diplomas and such, but these qualifications aren't taken as seriously as a degree, which you can't do at college, you have to go to university for.
I think the key to enjoying college/university is to enjoy the course you're doing. I started my photography degree at Plymouth uni (one of the top photography courses in the country) in September, and I am absolutely loving it!
Congrats on getting in Fade. It's true what they say, you really do get out what you put in. So yeah, go out, party, it's about that too But knuckle down and work hard if this is what you want to do, it'll pay off in the end.
Someone should make a simple graph / picture.
Reception Here is 5 - 6
Primary School here 6 - 11
Secondary School 11 - 16
College here is age 16-18
University is 18-130982091283075
I think.... anyways :p might start school at 4-5 not 5-6
Ours is different again, I'm from Dorset and we have academic years of
Reception to year 4 - Primary School
Year 5 - year 8 - Middle School
Year 9 - year 11 - Uper School
You can then choose to stay on at upper school and do A-levels or various NVQs for 2 years, or you can go to college to do this, then you can go on to uni after that if your educational ability is high enough.
i'm english ;)
I know, but it seems to work different where I am to the rest of the country. Might be the same in Wiltshire cos it's close. Most of the country don't have a middle school. Just primary and secondary.
fucking hate college, cant be bothered with it anymore, just want to go out :(
i half had a middle school reception year one and two were spent in a different building of the same school it was two buildings reception years 1 and 2 are in one and years 3 to 6 are in the other then 7-11 in one school then "12-13" college but we arent referred to as year 13, then uni after that
oooh the notion of college and university in Canada is real distinct. Colleges usually offer diplomas while universities are where you get the degrees. Thats generally, every province seems to have their own thing going on :)
I like uni its wicked. XD
seriously cant wait until i go to uni, manchester here i come...better be ready stu XD
I cant wait till college ^^ Academy of Contemporary Music for moi
Thanks all for the congratulations. I"m totally freaking out right now. I have two months to get all my loans, scholarships and student aid going, and nothing is coming together.
Good lord, I'm a junior in high school and people are telling me to start looking for scholarships. Maybe I should get on that...
The sooner you start the better. Even if you cannot begin applying to many as junior, you can do all of your research and get all the info organized. Get all the important dates down on a calendar so that you don't miss any application deadlines, etc. There are so many thousands upon thousands of scholarships that it can take quite some time to find all those that you are eligible for. You may need to mail away for various application forms, etc. Some scholarships do things like clockwork every year... starting with sending out applications on a certain date to closing applications at a certain date / time. If you put the time in now you'll be way ahead of everyone who you will be competing against.
Fuck Uni, i can't cope with work from college never mind Uni haha im now a bum, getting pissed everyday and skipping work haha i love it
The Academy of Art University (it's in Cali) for me! I'm so pumped, I even get to skip 2 classes and take 2 classes (that are basically free due to portfolio grant) over the summer. Because I take 4 classes a semester, it sounds like I'll be able to graduate in 3.5 years rather than 4. Either that or move on to more advanced things. I'm going into 3d animation and visual effects by the way.
Heh coo jack, i dunno where im going yet.. I'm hoping to get into Ringling.. but ill really have to dedicate myself into doing so.... i hear its really hard to get into the more popular classes, but i guess ill just have to try if i decide to.
congrats!
yeah i live in Australia, and what Americans call College we call University. And i think what the UK call college is sort of like Tafe here. Im not sure on that one though.
