well im pretty much Atheist so i dont believe in god or the afterlife
I'm a Nihilist, so yeah. He doesn't exist. There is no proof of his existence....Oh and dont say "but there is no proof he doesn't exist lolololol" because there actually is.....It's called the laws of Physics.
Afterlife: You know when you are asleep? You dont feel anything, you dont remember anything that happened while you were asleep (unless you were dreaming). When you are asleep and not dreaming is what I think death is like.
I don't believe in God. I don't think there's anything watching over us. I think we're just a big mixture of carbon compounts, just like every organic being.
However, I DO believe in the afterlife. Very weird combination, I know. But I've just heard too many weird stories. I'm fucking convinced. :P
I believe that there are things we cannot explain, but I don't think God is one of them. I think God is God because we made him God.
In my opinion god (or mohammed or whatever you want) is just a figment of peoples imagination, created by their hopeless lack of confidence to try and find some kind of false hope in life. Christianity seems to focus around living simply so that they can get into an imaginary wonderland that they have dubbed "heaven".
Live life for the sake of living or "Carpe Diem". I dont see the point in spending your whole live obiding by some rules that are in some pathetic little book, simply because they want to go somewhere (that doesn't exist) when they are dead.
People should live life simply because they can, the fact that we have developed into humans should be taken for granted, we should live for now, not live for death.
Or at least.....thats what I think xD
To sum up what i believe...
I do not believe in a God or any higher force thingy me bob, but i believe in reincarnation, not the fact that if we kill people were a tree, but i just cant imagine nothing forever. Something has to happen.
Same as the reason i dont believe in a God, i just find it way un realistic.
How i think the bible came about :
Some dude decided to write a book, fiction, and he died. Some stoner found this book and read it stoned, therefore he believed it. And spread his word to all the other stoners therefore religious people come from Stoner ancestors!!!
Well pretty much just without the stoners haha
My opinions are awkward, I'm not really sure, but i have alot of mixed thoughts.
It would be nice to think there is a higher being looking out for us, and making plans for us, but it really doesnt seem possible, even though i know its all about faith.
I really hate mainstream religions, like christianity. To me it seems like they are forcing you to follow their beliefs, and not have any of your own. Alot of devout (sp?) catholics that i have met also seem to believe that the bible is 100% literal, which i think is total bs. you can't part a fucking sea, no matter how much faith you have. I think the stories in the bible are there for the morals if you know what i mean. Their good stories and they teach a good lesson, but their not literal, imo. I also think that jesus was just a prophet, not the son of god. Why? I really don't know.
Also yeah, like bem said, the bible was written by a man, and revised by more men, to influence the culture, and convert people to christianity. So much blood has been shed over religion, which is the opposite of what its supposed to do, its so fucking dumb. christianity, judaism, and islam, all have -basically- the same beliefs, with minor differences, yet everyone kills each other over them. And the after life, i really hope there is something good, but in all honesty i don't know, and really havent thought that much about it.
Also i went to church once with a really good friend, and her family, and the minister ( or whatever) was preaching about how smoking weed and drinking alcohol was a sin. I totally don't understand that, and i'd really like someone to explain that to me.
And jesus was for sure a stoner. Sandals, Robes, Long Hair? Come on...
i completely agree with swabs that death is just an eternal dreamless sleep, what scares me most though, is not death itself, but what has happened prior to my death, i dont want to feel any pain, or know that my life was incomplete, but its just one of those things you will never be able to predict...unfortunately..i think lol
though i would like to believe that there is life after death, i know that it is only wishful thinking. of course rabies, perhaps you could share some of these insightful stories to try to persuade me otherwise :P
If we can't understand life, we can't understand death. There could be an afterlife and such, but I don't care. We spend too much time thinking about what's after death, we don't spend enough time living. I fly by the seat of my pants, when it comes and if there happens to be an afterlife, I'll be like, "Ah that's cool!" If there isn't, at least I didn't waste time thinking about it :)
As for a god, again, there could be one, or not. But I don't care. People can believe what they want to.
Thats pretty much what i believe. Only that i sometimes do think of afterlife, if its really so heaven like, i would certainly go there now, but what if its darkness and hell :o So yea, i guess thats the reason why bored people dont commit suicide :p
rofllllll im bored, not really suicidal..
Im excited about afterlife. I bieleve in a higher being. So yeah I bieleve in God. I just refuse to bieleve the entire universe just poofed into creation. If there is no afterlife I will piss in my grave.
And another thing, all these higher people, Jesus, God Slag Mary, sorry The Virgin Who Shagged :| :| :| It is all come from a book, and all incidents are from the past, there are no super beings now, what a coincidence...
Well apart from me of course ;)
God, is an early form of science. Or explaining things.
EG.
Rain
"God must be angry at our sins"
Do you really think that thousands of years ago they knew about cloud patterns and WHY it rains. No. Do people still think Gods get angry with us and make us pay for our sins?
I do however, beleieve in SOMETHING after life. we may simply wait until the end of the universe, until it finishes expanding, contracts and implodes, and then is reborn again. And we live life again.
Or. It is simply a gathering of souls and beings, our minds, to put it.
Or. We are reborn into this world, possibly not in this body, possibly not in a mind where we can 'think' and learn. but reborn.
I beleive my body can die. But my mind cannot.
Dont worry about that. Minds will be eaten by maggots in the grave
You can't eat a mind. It is impossible to eat one's thoughts.
Oops i meant brains
Our thoughts will be consumed by Akuma
Life is chemicals. We exist solely because the right amounts of certain substances came together at the same place and at the same time and created the first living creature. This occurance was purely accidental, and there is no reason for our existance nor is there some supernatural force or presence looking over everything. This said: one dies when his or her chemical reactions fail; that is the end, there is nothing more.
One thing though, i believe the big bang thing or w/e created life.
but what created those atoms that created life??
No matter how far back you go something must of created the atom.
offtopic: 'screenshit'. L0LLERZ
ontopic: agnosticism. It's what swank dudes do now.
Alrighty, I could tell some crazy ass niggah spooky shiet. ;P
I have never experienced anything myself, I believe that some people "got da powah" to see/feel/hear stuff that other's can't. Like a medium, but maybe not as strong or not experienced. My ex-girlfriend had a very weird experience which is kinda spooky:
My ex-gf, Maria, has like an old stone oven in her room. She just put stuff on it, like a mirror, makeup and shit like that. But once she started to feel something just where that oven stood, like a presence. When she turned away from it she felt like being watched, so she had trouble sleeping and stuff.
Then a friend of her mom came to visit. He had never been in the house before and knew nothing about it (I don't think he lived in the same town). Then when he steps into her room to look at it, he stops and goes "whoa, I think you have a presence here right where this oven is, can you feel it?"
And Maria says that yes she can feel it. He says that he actually do some work as a medium. Then he starts going on talking about this presence, who is a girl who worked in the house that apparently happened to be an old bakery. He gives a detailed description of the girl and says that it's nothing to be afraid of.
Later they found an old picture in the attic of that exact girl, who worked in the house when it was a bakery. The desciption matched perfectly, so it seems very very unlikely that he just guessed and was right about everything.
My ex-girlfriend told me this, and she never lies about stuff like this. She believes strongly in these things, and would never lie about it.
Pretty much the same thing happened to a friend of mine too. A medium told his mother stuff about her, like really detailed stuff that no one but herself would know. Like "you husband gave you a Mickey Mouse sweater for christmas 9 years ago, but you thought it was ugly so you gave it away without telling him" and stuff like that. Maybe it wasn't a Mickey Mouse sweater, but you get the point. :P It was really detailed things which made his mom feel really bad mentally and she even had to go the hospital! It's kinda sick.
I'm convinced. There are few things I believe in, but for me this seems so real. It just sounds so fucking stupid to say that a medium just make stuff up that later appears to be 100% correct. I'm sure there are fakers, but I also believe that there are people who actually CAN feel presences/ghosts/spirits/whatfuckingever.
I have a have a friend who says he has a friend that can see people's auras around them.
Not being sarcastic here towards rabie, true "story" :P
I will believe in whatever fixes my comps
thats me
The Laws of Physics don't disprove God.
Since when does Gravity defy the concept of God?
Or the fact that every reaction gives an equal and opposite reaction... is that God's Bane too?
But what about what goes up must come down? Certainly God is against all that, of course...
Yes, you can have you opinions, but don't make stupid statements like this one above >_>.
You can't disprove god.
You can't prove god either.
So why bother?
How about the one saying it's impossible to be able to see everything and everywhere? It's not possible just to be "a presence" if he is a living being then that's what he has to be. He cant just be a gas or something. If he exists as a living thing, then he should be visable (as there is no such thing as invisibility) ect ect ect ect.
In my opinion, if there is no proof of somethings existence then it does not exist. And there is no such thing as "no proof something doesn't exist" as the lack of proof that is does exist is enough.
Of course there is such a thing as "there is no proof that god doesn't exist" Think about it, it is entirely different from saying, "there is proof that god doesn't exist" Completely different.
But you don't have complete proof that god doesn't exist nor does anyone have proof that god exists either. Don't give bullshit proofs by example either, they disgust me and are mathematically incorrect.
It's idiotic. It's futile to try and prove anything about god.Quote:
Example of a bullshit proof by example:
Argument: People are thieves.
Proof: I saw a person steal something
Therefore all people are thieves.
Well I'm just not going to believe in something unless there is an 100% reliable source of information stating that it does exist.
For instance I will believe in something like "The body of this guitar is made from Alder", But there is so little evidence (if any) of gods existence and that small source of evidence is entirely unreliable (the bible). That I'm not going to believe in it.
It's like the electron of an atom, an electron does weigh a very tiny, minute amount (something like 1/1836 the weight of a Hydrogen atom) . But because it weighs "almost nothing", in chemistry it is counted as negligable when working out the mass of an atom, it's weight is so small it is not even counted for.
That's my thinking of the existence of God..
Nothing is 100% accurate, people can lie.
After you die, what you did in your life didn't really matter because your never going to wake up again. You only get to enjoy life while your living it.
People like to belive in life after death because they realized how short life is.
to be blunt, god is a figment of imagination made by a group of people who wanted power, if you look back in history you ll see the christian/catholic church were not very nice people, they were intelligent though, and grew their 'cult' into a religion,
god may exist, but to be honest i dont think so,
now if you ask, but how did we come to be on this planet?
my opinions can be changed into fantasies but i believe we cud be an experiment of some sort, or even like the sims, some bored kid is playing our lives for us, lol.
now the afterlife, i do believe that exists, i believe we linger on earth or go somewhere, but i know that spirits are real, since when i was younger i had some spiritural experiences so im half afraid of death cuz id like to be a ghost lol
i dont really make sense so you have to try and know what im talking about,
end of the day god isnt real unless u want him to be
the afterlife is mystical becuz its supossed to be, but one way or another, were gonna find out soon lol
ok...ive been watching this thread for a while and some things that are being said are really disturbing.
i am all for people believing what they want. doing or thinking otherwise would be hypocritical (sp?) but sometimes you need to think about what you're saying.
take a scientist and a preacher and show them the sunset. ask the scientist what he sees and he will tell you he sees the sun dropping below the horizon due to the rotation of the earth and its angle to the sun. ask the preacher what he sees and he will say a miracle. who's wrong? whos right?
the scientist believes what he believes because a calculater tells him so. the precher believes what he believes because he BELIEVES it. i have much more respect for someone who can believe something based purely on faith. anyone can believe something based on what they can see.
is the majority of religion an explanation of the unexplainable? yeah probably. can you really part seas? probably not. but its the message thats important. its the fact that people can have faith in something that makes thier day "fulfilling". ive heard things like "wasting your time with that shit" or "there's no point to it". but if something you believe in makes your day worth living, helps you be a moral person for the betterment of mankind, allows you to brush of any negativity or unfortunate turns in your life....how is it pointless? Wrong or right, people that have faith have purpose. it makes them feel like they have purpose. how can that be wrong?
