Hey im not a pro, ive just joined the forum but i have been on and off making sigs for a while now and i decided to make something different to the usual. What do you think? Areas of improvement ? Positive Area?:confused:

I dont like the scanlines, at least dont have them on the render. Text needs to be changed and blended, set to overlay or lower opacity. Background is simple which I kind of like. The stripes over the render end immediately by his sword, extend it. Good job though, keep at it.

AHHH! The text is way distorted, i'm having trouble reading it. Very distracting as well. Me, i'm not a simple bg person, at least not that simple. Render also looks distorted, but it might be just me; it kinda looks strangely shaped.

I like your choice for the bg, its colours&design suit sub-zero pretty well, looks really like a japanese manga cover... render looks goods to me :D
oops *edit* second text looks better to me.

That's definitely better, no question. Not a fan of the bg, but other people will like it, that's for sure.

I actually like the scan lines and I agree with Shane the original font was too much.

I say lose the scanlines altogether.

Lighting. see the highlights on his face? there's nothing on the bg that causes that so it looks flat. add some white with a soft large brush, and gradually darken the outer edges to give it depth. text could use work.

I tried working it like this fading for a light to a dark, what do you think? on the right track? now im trying to work the text.

It looks good, but light isn't the same as white. Maybe some contrast or something? I don't know whats missing.

use unsharp mask on the stock and move the text closer to the stock. i don't like the white border.

what do you mean by unsharp mask on the stock and move the text closer to the stock

the stock = the person. stock image. the text is text. unsharp mask is filter > sharpen > unsharp mask. settings are

amount = whatever looks best
radius = 1.0 pixels
threshold = 0 levels

i think i liked it without the lens flare. it's too obvious.

yeah thanks heaps, im trying to perfect some techniques, i've been on and off making sig's so im tryin to remember. lol:D

I still think you could work on the text.
It....stand out too much, and doesnt suit your sig.
How about putting it as a dark grey with dark green first letters on the right? Or maybe a very dark green and then a lighter green as the main letter you are pointing out.

You have changed a lot since your first sig. Chapeau to you.
I still think the render needs a tad of blending into the background. Just a bit; gives it more effect.

dont think the render and the bg goes well together and the scanlines ruins it a bit sry
