Blood Red Banner Tutorial

Lets begin!


First off open up Photoshop CS and make a new file. Any size wanted.

Goto Filter -> Render -> Clouds

Press Ctrl + L and set to the levels to 70 - 0.89 - 235 | 60 - 255

Press Ctrl + J

Set the layer mode to Linear Light and set the Opacity to 50%

Press Ctrl + E

Press Ctrl + Shift + N

Press Ctrl + N

Set Width to 2 and Height 2 and press OK

Use the pencil and fill the top left corner with #4D4D4D and the rest with #262626

Goto Edit -> Define Pattern and press OK

Close without saving

Press Shift + F5 and select our pattern we made and press OK

Set the layer mode to Color Burn

Click Layer 1 and press Ctrl + B and set Shadows, Highlights, and Midtones to 100 Red

Press Ctrl + L and makes sure this is no large grey, white, or black areas

Press Ctrl + E

Add a cool logo, I used Quake 3's

Resize it to what you want **DO NOT REMOVE BLACK BACKGROUND**

Paste it into a New Layer

Set mode to Linear Dodge

Add some text and there you go!

nice, a li'l simple tho. what is it, clouds border and logo? kinda simple. maybe incorporate brushes into it.

the part when you say " Press Ctrl + L and makes sure this is no large grey, white, or black areas " don't really work for me as you can see on my pic ;)

Well, you want to move the sliders so there isn't any solid clumps of colour. It kind-of ruins the effect your going for.

lol..this is pathetic...all it is is filters..nothing else..thats sad man..

hey haven, i admit its not that much, but MOST of the tuts on this site are just filters :p

exactly..but this includes only clouds..to basic for me..and not unique either..I could make a better 'bloodied border' with my own brushes..

Xx, i'm sure this tutorial would be very hepful for a first signature. And yes , it could do with some brushing, but i think it'll be used alot by beginners.

Btw..we are getting a lot of new people here..so they should read the tuts first..and not make a new one right when they get here so they know whats here and what isn't..I'm sure a lot of people have used clouds in there tut..but some beginner could sign up today and look at this tut and make a completely new one called Icey Border..and just change the color of this one...get what I'm saying?

Most of my tutorails are to show the principles on PS for newcomers or old ones depending what your tecnique (sp?) is.

Almost all of my tuts give you a starting ground to base your own unique signature. I am positive that no one wants the exact same sig right? So I show the basics and someone developes a sense on how to make a grunge tutorial. be it adding lighting effects or adding in a clouds distortion filter or anything!

My sig right now is based off my own tutorial.

All of my tutorials are like this and will be, so get used to it.

it worked for me yeah the text is not that pretty! what effects did you use on
this font?

first off some anti-aliasing on the text, then a bevel with inner shadow then stroke then a drop shadow

ya don't learn ps..you experiment with it...plus filters are just like a helping hand..not your own...it does the work for you...not you..

This is a pretty good tut for a noob like myself...I wish u would of went into a lil bit of detail about the text tho...I seem to always have trouble with text in photoshop...

Font Style: inner shadow, beval and emboss (size = 1), stroke, very simple concept.

can be used for making signatures with lots of othewr themes

I like it however I agree it could use some brushing. Just a little simplistic. Cool though never the less
